What are your SHTF "triggers?"

There are clearly many different vectors to consider. I have probably thought most about reasoanbly short-notice situations.

I will "quarantine" myself and my family, or "bug in", if there are any reports of serious epidemic (if it hits my locale first, we're probablly SOL) in the U.S. Not swine flu as it unrolled, more speedy and deadly than that.

The detonation of a nuclear weaopn in anger (borrowed that phraseology from someone above).

WMD attack anywhere in the U.S. (including 9/11 type attack).

Any of these regardless of the cause will be a trigger to me.
1. Habeas corpus suspended.
2. Firearm confiscation
3. Essential services (electricity, food, water, financial or safety services) disrupted.
4. Foreign troops operating on US soil.
5. Any deliberate large scale communications disruption. (internet, phones, roads, etc..)
6. Posse Comitatus Act rescinded.
