NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- An arsenal of weapons including guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a bayonet and several swords was found in the home and car of the gunman who carried out the Newtown school shooting, according to search warrants released Thursday.

Adam Lanza killed 26 people inside Sandy Hook Elementary School and took his own life within five minutes of shooting his way into the building, State's Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III said in a statement accompanying the release of the warrants in the Dec. 14 massacre. Lanza was found dead in the school wearing military-style clothing.

The extensive inventory of the evidence seized from Lanza's home and the car he drove to carry out the massacre provided glimpses into the world of the reclusive gunman. Prosecutors until now had made few details available, despite pressure to do so from the governor, who criticized leaks to the press and lawmakers who clamored for more details as they craft legislation on mental health and gun control.

Sedensky said Lanza killed all 26 victims inside Sandy Hook Elementary School with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle before taking his own life with a Glock 10 mm handgun. He says Lanza had another loaded handgun with him inside the school as well as three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster.

Sedensky said 154 spent .223 casings were recovered at the scene. A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found in the Honda Civic Lanza drove to the school with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

At the house, investigators found books about autism and Asperger's syndrome as well as an NRA guide to pistol shooting.

Police said they found a smashed computer hard drive and a gaming console in Lanza's bedroom. An unnamed source told investigators that Lanza was an avid gamer who played "Call of Duty" and other games and rarely left his home.

Investigators found articles on other shootings and a holiday card containing a check made out to Adam Lanza for the purchase of a firearm, authored by his mother, Nancy Lanza.

Documents indicate that authorities found a gun safe with shotgun shells and numerous boxes of bullets. In a bedroom closet, they found ear plugs, a handwritten note regarding ammunition and magazines, paperwork on guns and a metal bayonet.

In a top drawer of a filing cabinet, they found paper targets. In a duffel bag, they found ear and eye protection, binoculars, numerous other paper targets and Lanza's NRA certificate.

Authorities found numerous knives, including samurai swords. They found a military-style uniform in Lanza's bedroom and handwritten notes containing the addresses of local gun shops.

A Danbury Superior Court judge on Wednesday granted a request by Sedensky, the prosecutor overseeing the investigation, to withhold some details. Sedensky asked to redact the name of a witness, saying the person's safety might be jeopardized if the name were disclosed. He also asked that the release not include other information such as telephone numbers, serial numbers on items found and a few paragraphs of an affidavit.

Authorities have said it will take until June or later for the investigation to be completed.

The Associated Press and other news outlets have reported previously that Lanza showed interest in other mass killings and authorities found literature on other massacres at his house.

Malloy announced last week that additional information would be released at his request. He expressed concern that some information about the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook reportedly disclosed by a top state police commander at a recent law enforcement seminar in New Orleans was leaked.

"Like many others, I was disappointed and angered to learn that certain information about the Newtown shooting had been leaked, specifically with concern for the victims' families who may have been hearing this news for the first time," the governor said in a statement.

A column published last week in the New York Daily News, citing an unnamed police officer who attended the seminar, reported that Col. Daniel Stebbins discussed evidence that suggested the Newtown gunman studied other mass slayings and dedicated extensive planning to the rampage.

The seminar was designed for only law enforcement professionals, and sensitive information dealing with the tactical approaches used by first responders to the Sandy Hook shootings was discussed, state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

Senate President Donald E. Williams Jr. said this week that legislative leaders hope to review the search warrant documents before finishing work on a bipartisan bill that addresses gun control and

I was reading a similar article off of Foxnews see link:

The Connecticut prosecutor leading the investigation into the Newtown school shooting says the gunman killed the 26 victims and took his own life within five minutes of shooting his way into the building.

    From your post:

"An arsenal of weapons.... was found in the home and car of the gunman who carried out the Newtown school shooting, according to search warrants released Thursday."

Wait a second a "search warrant" does not disclose what they are going to find... Instead it describes where they are going to look and what the type of items or evidence they believe they will find right?

    From the fox:
"A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found in the glove compartment of the Honda Civic Lanza drove to the school with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds."

I had a Honda Civic and the glove box would hardly hold a Glock much less a 12 gauge...

"He says Lanza had another loaded handgun with him inside the school as well as three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster." .... "Sedensky said 154 spent .223 casings were recovered at the scene."

    Well 3 x 30 = 90 where did the other 64 rounds come from?

"Sedensky asked to redact the name of a witness, saying the person's safety might be jeopardized if the name were disclosed."

Why would their safety in Jeopardy (who would threaten them)?... Unless there was someone else involved? But Adam was a "lone" gunman right?

3x30 = 90 154 "spent .223 casings" 64 rounds unaccounted for. 64 round magazine? I have a feeling that if an evil "drum" was found there, it would be paraded around right now. What am I missing?

two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge
          So 70 rounds / 2 mags = 35 round mag... I assume that is a 12 gauge DRUM... But I have never seen 35 round 12 gauge drum... 20 and 30 but never a 35

          Authorities found numerous knives
Really every house in America has "numerous knives"?

There was also a "Dr" on America live on FOX just now. He started in on the Aunt calling the mother of the murderer a prepper and that she was a survivalist and paranoid. Then he kept saying 'we need to find people that fit into this group...'. Pretty scary. Amazing that being a prepper is going to put you in the same category as a murderer or accomplice or enabler.

We are all already on a "LIST"... Now we get to watch the media "Demonize" us and CREATE reasons why that list should exist. Once they have the majority thinking that all preppers are "crazy" and possible murderers then use the next tragedy to get all of us on a "No Buy" list similar to the "No Fly" list, all outside of LAW or "Color of Law".

Speaking of inconsistencies, FEMA says we should make preparations to sustain ourselves for 3 days to start with. Now I hear they upped that to 2 weeks of self reliance. So, we make preps to do that and end up on some DHS list as potential terrorists and mass murderers! Does anybody in Washington, D.C. know what the hell they're talking about?

On the day of the massacre, Lanza took two loaded handguns to the school along with the Bushmaster rifle. A fourth gun, a loaded 12-gauge Saiga shotgun, was found in the passenger compartment of his Honda Civic, along with 70 shotgun rounds.

Lanza went through six 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster, although half of them were not completely empty, and police said he had three other 30-round magazines in addition to one that was in the rifle.
I think that means he had 10 mags...

Also, zero mention of the MEDS he was on...

Just how big is the glove box on a honda that it can hold a loaded shotgun, ammo and mags? What Winchester shotgun magazines? I've never seen them. What Winchester shotgun magazines that hold 35 rounds apiece? again never seen them!

I do seem to recall the video of the cops on scene pulling the shotgun out of the trunk. Remember, this is the media we are talking about here. Facts of the matter are irrelevant to a good story that beats up on Constitutional Rights and uses dead children to advance a political agenda. Even for Fox News...

Thinking the "shotgun magazines" might have been bandoliers. At least that would make a little more sense. Not saying it's true or being apologetic, just trying to make sense out of it. But if not, I WANT one of those mag fed Winchesters!

I'm still cracked up by the "boxes of bullets" comment. Oh my! Boxes of bullets! And Samurai swords! Evil, evil, evil swords! And wondering just how many weapons an "arsenal" consists of? A lot of us are screwed if that's the case.

All in all, there was nothing in the house that screamed out of the ordinary. Lots of homes have decorative samurai swords. But even if they were sharpened, it's not like they are illegal and they were not used in the crime. But either way, the article doesn't say if the swords were decorative or Lanza was going out fulfilling a Bushido fantasy. "Boxes of bullets" is ambiguous (could be anywhere from two to two thousand) and might be just a typical day at the range for many of us. 1000 rounds for at least four weapons in four different calibers? Which there were probably more weapons since they found an "arsenal" in the house. So maybe between five to ten? Not really a lot of rounds when you think about it with maybe a hundred rounds per firearm. Ear and eye pro are a must have when shooting. Binos to check targets. Really nothing that screams out anything wrong with what was in the household...most of that article is sensationalist data meant to provoke a response out of the reader and get the sheeple screaming "OMG! They had a thousand rounds, ear plugs and Samurai swords! OMG Piers Morgan was right and we should ban everything!"

So really, that article doesn't tell us anything ground breaking and still ignores the obvious fact that boy had documented mental problems, was on a medication of which the long term effects are not known and politicians are still blaming the sword for the hand that wields it. They drooled over the fact it happened in an elementary school and stepped over those dead children to push their freedom grabbing legislation in Congress. No tin foil there, that's fact.

Precisely why I posted that here. It's just like the news immediately after OKC- "numerous witnesses said three middle eastern men were seen walking away from the truck" and then later "some drugged out looking dumb$%ck who was so involved in planning this attack that he figured his best option was to speed away from the area in a car without a license plate..."

Or how about Bloomberg TV (we videotaped this) having an explosives expert on immediately after the towers fell (perfectly straight down) saying they were obviously imploded from the inside, or the NYC high school where the EOD team was shown working on a car bomb or.....

ANY time something major happens and it's on TV, start recording the first news of it. It pretty much ALWAYS changes after the fact.

I just knew some $@#@#$ liberal would change this story after someone did the math on it...
