  • New Weather Season

As we leave the winter and spring comes in so does the severe thunderstorm season. I started my preparations by conducting a generator test

Sharpshooter located some jugs on sale at the evil empire and gave me one which was promptly filled, treated and placed in the storm shelter.

I will go down there soon and refill all water containers, rotate food, check for rust on propane containers, replace batteries, spray for buggies and do a little spring cleaning. I will also move the helmets from "The Closet of Death" to the backdoor because it's always hailing it seems when we make the mad dash.

Whatcha gotta get done for the upcoming season?

Thats a good looking instruction sheet - you might want to sell a copy of that to Briggs and Stratton because it looks alot better than what they send with their generators.

I need to cycle my water as well, restock my battery supply and check the wicks in the oil lamps. I'd also like to buy or build a couple bunk beds to put in the basement.

We just got thrown back into winter... :(

Just an added thought, laminate your instruction sheet and attach it to the Gen set with string, pull chain, paracord or what ever you have. In case someone else has to start it, whoever that may be.

      Looks good.

I use these small jugs for easier handling for the wife and to have a few small carry size ones in case I'm working after the storm on cleanup

My goal is to able to survive for 3 days down there till help arrives or is able to dig us out in a worst case:

My Mom has moved to a different location and had a shelter installed there. We moved all her stuff down there and she texted this morning and said she had gone thru all her stuff in the new shelter this morning too. Guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree LOL
