  • H5N1 research continues.

I understand that the flu (regular flu) kills thousands every year and Avian hasnt killed but a thousand since its discovery, but avian or H5N1 has about a 50% mortality rate. Seems the testing was interrupted because the results of the strain escaping, after creating a strain that is able to be airborne transferable from human to human, could be catastrophic. Presently a university in wisconsin and the netherlands are being given the go ahead to continue research deeming it "essential for pandemic preparedness".

Controversial research into making bird flu easier to spread in people is to resume after a year-long hiatus.

Essentially the scientist are working on a theory that they need to get in front of the virus before it mutates and becomes a disaster on its own. 1 year ago the research was stopped because of concerns that if the created virus escapes before the treatment is available millions could die. The research had advanced to the stage where an infected ferret was able to transfer the virus to another ferret that was in another cage but far enough away to not be able to touch it. Mammal to Mammal was already proofed at that point. The scary part is that the HAI (Human Animal interface) strain of h5n1 is showing resistance to oseltamivir which is tamiflu. That aint good at all!!! If the created virus mutates and carries the same traits, then there isnt really a treatment.

There is a lot of info coming out of China and the Far East concerning cases etc., there. Just saying...

I know that beans bandaids and bullets are paramount, but I just want everyone to take a good look at their pandemic kits.
