Yes once again it's time to say thanks, especially since each year there are fewer Survivors to thank. Do it today.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I went in November, and visited the memorial. You see it on television, and it's really not the same. I also found out that in addition to the people who died on Dec. 7, they now have a program where you can be interred there if you were a survivor. In addition to the wall listing the names of the people who died on the Arizona, there was a smaller plaque with the names of those interred at the site. Apparently, you can have your remains cremated, and a diver will take the ashes down and put them on the ship. The names were listed for the Arizona, but I don't know for sure if it's only the survivors of the Arizona that can do that. There were four other ships there that weren't raised after the war started, and each has it's own memorial.

It was interesting in that it's a national memorial, but it's also a working port. There was a sub in port while I was there.

Indeed, my Grandfather was a survivor of the attack (God rest his soul).

A local USS Arizona survivor who passed away several years ago was interred on board by Navy divers.
I can fully understand wanting to rest with your buddies.

Couldn't get in here yesturday but don't have the words to thank our past present and ongoing service people for all that they have done and do for us. Husband and I always thank people we see in uniform for their service to our country and they seemed shocked that we care. Thats sad. Not long ago we were out and saw a man and his wife eatting dinner. His cap said USS Missouri on it. Couldn't resist talking to him. Yes indeed he survived the Pearl Harbor attack and was tearful that we wanted to thank he and his wife for their service to our country. To many people just don't care or have forgotten. To our troops out there currently.......please come home safe.
