I was gonna guess food stamp people, but was afraid to offend.

My wife is a cashier for a large grocery store chain, has been for years. This is a big "issue" for her because she sees it every day and it is driving her nuts. She comes home every day and has to vent to me after putting up with these people. She can tell you some stories, about how people will have cartloads of groceries and $2500 on their Direction card (OH food stamps) for one month, or they pay for their groceries with a Direction card and then pull out a roll of cash to pay for beer and cigarettes, or they buy ice, candy, steaks, shrimp or even morel mushrooms.
The grocery stores are in on it too, did you know you can buy flowers with food stamps? Yep, sure can, all ya gotta do is make up a flower basket and put a candy bar in it and BINGO it qualifies as food! The store plan their big sales around the first of the month to get that gubmint money.
She was just talking about how many people get assistance saying that it just keeps building and she thinks that its about an even split as to paying/non-paying customers. Most of our neighbors that we actually know are on it but the thing she has noticed most of all in recent years is it cuts across all boundries, white, black, hispanic and people that seem pretty well off.
The entitlement society we live in has bred some of the most rude people to deal with that you can imagine, my wife is cussed at and berated on a daily basis but she still has to be nice to these people .... smile and be polite. sometimes I wish I could stand in her line and follow some of these jerks outside and treat them the same way but I'm trying to be a better person.
We talk every day and it spurs us on to prep harder, cause this can't keep going the way it is.

So many of us back in the day when we were young (myself most definitely included) thought we would see Amerika's demise in a quick fashion- dozens of mushroom clouds, a quick stock market collapse or the proverbial Russian and Cuban troops (Now replaced by North Koreans I guess LOL). But I realized about a decade ago our demise is going to be SLOW. Your wife sees it on a daily basis. A lot of cops see it on a daily basis, I'm sure if they are paying attention and have been at it long enough, a lot of publix edumakation teachers see it on a daily basis.

This is exactly what I'm talking about when I caution people not to get used to using this type of behavior when interacting with others and especially in negotiation/barter deals. Come the PAW someone acts like that and they will likely be shot in the face.

Let's break it down here: The type of people we are all referring to above are:
*Your neighbors and my neighbors
*About half of the population, keep that in mind if you plan to "barter" during the initial stages of the collapse (i.e, the first six months or so). Also, if you plan to give charity understand that SOMETHING isn't enough for these types, they WANT IT ALL. They will take it inch by inch just like they have done in our once great country.

Most of us are NOT as ruthless as we like to think we are or could be. Most of us are NOT as savvy as we think we are. Therefore it's best to AVOID these types of interactions. If you want to give charity in the PAW, do it the way I mentioned 15 years ago- find a local church, donate the stuff there and direct people to that place without taking credit for it. In other words "you might want to drop by the 18th Chapel of the Lord on 5th street, I heard they were helping people." NOT "I gave a bunch of stuff to the 18th Chapel of the Lord on 5th street, go there and they will help you."

Charity in the PAW is going to be the perfect example of where the Lord called us to "not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing."
