  • Can I get an amen?

Haven't we heard this before from others?? :)

"You cannot raise a couple of generations in liberal air from kindergarten to university -- with motion pictures, with television, with newspapers, with mainline churches -- in a default liberal setting, and then turn it around with elections. You can't save the country with a guy in the voting booth punching the tab of the fella with the (R) after his name every other November."
    -Mark Steyn

I can't tell you how many quote die hard unquote conservatives I've seen that went the easy route and farmed out their responsibility for educating their children and then were perplexed why their kids expoused liberal ideas.....

When they have them cradle to grave, they HAVE THEM.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Amen!! Just take a good look at our country today. The big question is where does it end, how do we start the process to change it?

While I do agree with you in part, specifically in very liberal areas, I have to disagree with it as a blanket statement. I am currently an education major and have had the priviledge of working with many strongly conservative Christian teachers. I believe in rural areas it is more likely to be a mix of teachers, some liberal and some conservative - though I think around here more are conservative. In many of my college classes, I have been delighted to find I didn't have defend my faith. It was not under attack. While some of my professors have indeed been liberal - and I believe I was able to change at least one teachers ideology on immigration and 2nd Ammendment gun rights - the majority have been faith filled Christians. FWIW, it is a public college. Again, my regional location might have something to do with the make up of my experiences.

As parents, it is our responsibility to educate our children on the spiritual. If we provide a firm foundation in the Bible, then they will not be swayed by every wind that blows. I am not against homeschooling, but if we pull all the Christian children out of the nations schools... you think they are a black hole of dispair now... just wait - no salt or light....

Yeah, you cant/wont have that in NY.
I had to have a parent teacher conference because my daughter told others in her class that her daddy makes guns for a living.
We have very few true Christian teachers and the few we have get scooped up by the private schools.
It is complete brainwashing from the start and if you voice any dissent, the quality of education your child will recieve will be reduced to less than half that of the other kids.
Of course you can compensate for this by teaching at home then let them go to "school" to demonstrate their knowledge/ability. Big problem with that is they are not given the oppertunity to excel in anything because everyone has to be the SAME. Ex: Fall skills evailuation for my youngest at school. abc's (complete) and 123's to 10. My kid can count beyond 110. The teacher said it doesnt matter, they dont test to see who excels anymore AND even if they did, there was nothing they would do different in her education.

Then we wonder why nobody "exceptional" rises to the top.

That is a teacher or system failure. It is a lot more work to have a gifted child in your room, but as the teacher it is your responsibility to see to it that every child gets the education they need and deserve. If the school doesn't allow such things then you might look into an IEP for your child. My son went to kindergarten reading chapter books. I didn't teach him, he just started reading when he was three. Depending on the test, he is in the near genius/genius range. Thankfully, most of his teachers have been willing to go the extra mile for him. We also provide all kinds of additional enrichment for him at home - he loves science. So for Christmas he is getting at least two science experiment kits.

I definitely agree. It is like the line from "The Incredibles" "When everybody is special, no one is."

Teacher Unions in NY ensure that the teachers dont have to do any more than what is specifically called out in their contract and in the school appointed syllabus. Because of this, there is very little oppertunity in the socialist school system. That is why we are active in MANY other oppertunities with our kids and dont rely on the socialist system to take care of our kid(s).

As you can see, I dont exactly "fit in" with the others at the PTA mtgs as I am usually a devout pain in the a** to the teachers and Union.

Big AMEN. You know my kid from from back in 99. He got in trouble at school because when they asked about what he wanted to do with Bambi he replied: "Shoot him and eat him!" The liberal teacher almost had a stroke. All my kids grew up shooting but one of them got infected with the liberal virus and she tends to fly off in that left direction a lot. the other two are born again survivalists. They did not give my kids too much grief since I knew all the members of the school board and worked on electing most of them. GB

We sent our son to public school here in Michigan, mainly because we just could not afford private school when he was younger... However, we did keep a close eye on what they were teaching him. Also, the big "Equalizer" for us was my son's involvement in the scouting program, from cub scout all the way thru to Eagle scout. We had several great, conservative scout leaders and my wife was also on the troop leadership board, so we always knew what was going on.

The difference is quite noticeable... Most of my son's scouting friends are conservative, compared to the general liberal slant of the other kids.

I too disagree with that as a blanket statement. My daughter went to public schools. She graduated from college next week. She is conservative and a strong Christian. She has had many liberal and athiest teachers. "They" never "had her" in spite of her public education, because we never abdicated our responsibilities as parents.
The liberal public schools don't get children until they are about 5 years old. WE have them in OUR care until then, and even after they start school, we can still have a tremendous impact on them, so long as we don't just give up and let the schools raise our children for us. Stay involved with your childrens' lives including their (public) education and raise your child with your values or the public schools will most definitely do it for you.

I think you can also throw into the mix, the fact that elections are now very vulnerable to fraud. With the dhimmicrat party's drive to prevent any photo ID or ID at all, the chance of honest elections are diminished.
When you control the process, you control the outcome.

If you don't think we have just witnessed a coup de tat, you have not been paying attention.

That was the point of it. If you have to have them in publix edumacation skewl, you HAVE to spend time teaching them/correcting what they are learning in skewl.

My point was the "ship them off, let others take responsibility for them and everything will go just fine" types of parents (99% of them out there IMO) are the majority of them. Working with kids in para church type activities as well as non church related activities I can tell you that the majority of them are being "lost" to the system, some despite quote good conservative Christian unquote homes.

                            It boils down to this

SOMEONE is going to instill THEIR values on YOUR child. You have to determine who that someone will be, hopefully it will be you.

I've seen too many old school types of parents that figure they just ship their kids off to school and everything will go perfectly to plan- and sometimes with a strong willed, good rooted child it will.

My 6 year old helped me skin a deer last night. I cant wait to hear the "feedback" I will get from her teacher.
The teacher is VERY liberal and a vegetarian, borderline vegan. My daughter is proud as can be about helpin Dad so I know she will be talkin about it at school next week.
The teacher and I have a little history from long before I even had children (this is a small town). I know I dont need to exacerbate the situation with her teacher but it is sooooooooooo much fun.
