For sure. I heard folks are traveling much less for Thanksgiving and a poll showed folks spending much less for Christmas. I don't know. One news report said black friday sales in stores were low but deals on line had increased from last year 17%. Fully HALF of the voters in this country are complete IDIOTS, and the U.S. economy is tiptoeing along the edge of the cliff. Who in their right mind is going to waste money on iPads and iPhones and other worthless gadgets, when food and water and shelter and protection are the BASICS that allow for survival?
If you want to buy Christmas gifts that make sense, buy silver coins, food, firearms, fishing equipment, hunting equipment, and water filtration gadgets.
We picked up a couple of TV's last night at Black Friday, they will offer bigger views of our cameras that cover the areas that our Seismic Intrusion Detectors and various other Perimeter alarms cover. When an alert is heard, we will simply glance at the TV screen and not EXPOSE OURSELVES to check it out. Power? Our alternate energy system covers the little draw all of these pull.
Can we live without these? Of flippin course.... Do we have MULTIPLE other options in these regards? Yes, hell yes... Do they make sense for SECURITY at our SURVIVAL RETREAT, your damn right they do.
We don't have cable or satellite TV. We don't live in suburbia or in a city....
Glad to see your in "full prepper mode" now, but don't assume that everyone else is on Square One also. Some of us have been living this stuff for decades now ;) So understand that what you call "toys" that are not "prepper qualified" have real uses to people a lot further along (you know SURVIVALISTS) than you might currently be.Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Wow, are we having a bad day? Where in my comments did I state that EVERYBODY ELSE in this forum was on "square one"? I didn't.
I specifically mentioned iPads and iPhones, and "worthless gadgets". I never said a WORD about TVs that can also be used as monitors.
We also have a surveillance system, BTW. I'm assuming you have a DVR hooked up to your surveillance system?
We've been prepping for several years also, but I don't see very many people in here doing a lot of "fist-bumping" and "chest-thumping" about it. I don't think that "show and tell" is a game that should be played amongst the preppers. Aren't REAL preppers more likely to be "stealthy"? Makes sense to me.
