Texas has more signatures on our petition than anyone else. This still isn't 1/2 of 1% of the population. Im wondering if anyone thinks the Feds or Barry would use Texas as an example? Cut back on anything? Free up the border more.( if that's possible ) Any thoughts?

How can they use them as an example if they arent a part of the US. Free up the border, thats Texas issue not the USA. Dont worry the Texas Army will stop the Mexicans from taking all that highly touted gas n oil that America will just freely give up LOL. No fears, i'll just mail in some supplies...oops no mail. I anint happy neither but folks aint using their headsKnowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

I agree Matt, people aren't thinking logically, I haven't signed myself. BUT...Originally posted by Matt In Oklahoma View PostHow can they use them as an example if they arent a part of the US. I think the US is bound to protect its borders, Texas' included. It wasn't New York's problem when we were attacked in 2001, right? I was just wondering if y'all thought there would be any repercussions for signing such a document?אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

For every action there is an equal reaction. So lets say a whole percent speaks and signs, then what, nothing thats what, so what was the point of putting something out there? Fishing, Mining, Baiting whatever you wanna call it. If nothing else you have made an open statement to a powerful mean (in many on heres minds) organization that has no intention of letting such a thing happen. In fact many in that side will consider it treason. Not saying it is or isnt, not saying do it or dontOriginally posted by xdpatriot View PostI was just wondering if y'all thought there would be any repercussions for signing such a document?
Just think, emotional acting doesnt make the best choices sometimes.
Ask yourself why we didnt just let other countries fall after wars. The answer is resources and stabilization. states are no differentKnowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

Good point. I think it wouldn't matter how many of us wanted to secede or not, it ain't happening. I think people need to take a deep breath. Like you said Matt, decisions made while emotional aren't always the best.אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

I keep thining about the money. How much money, does Tx pay to the Feds? Then how much does Tx get in return? Are they equal? So if Tx get's more from the Feds it would be in their intrest to stay.
What would happen to the Tx state budget if they lost all of the fed money, would all of the services that citizen current recieve stay the same, get better or worse?
It might sound like a good idea, kinda like "we'll show them how displeased we are". But more emotional than cold rational.
I think it would cause way more problems and have a lot of unintended sid affects.
Just wondering.Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I am not signing any petition that has no meaning. The Feds will never allow a state to secede unless the US Federal Government has totally collapsed. In that case all bets are off. Petition signers just put themselves on a list is all they have done. The US Constitution was amended following the Civil War to NOT allow any state to secede again. In truth Texas came into the Union with only one provision and that was to allow it to later break up into as many as 5 states. That provision went away with Reconstruction that ended in 1872. Don't take offense at this since I am a native Texan and fifth generation at that. I love my state and grew up pledging allegiance to Texas every day at school. Would I love to be part of an independent Texas? You bet you I would. unfortunately, it will not happen with any petition. GB

I think for a great many signers it is more of a political statement than an actual expectation. Granted, there are some that are dead serious, but I would guess those are the minority.
Still, the disconnect between the coastal/Great Lakes states and the Heartland of American is becomming greater and greater. Eventually, something will have to happen. It seems to me that those states are hell bent on seeing their own destruction, while those of us in the "flyover" states hold tightly to our traditions and beliefs.

We ALWAYS see an influx of "downstaters" during hunting season. This year we have seen them a couple weeks early because they had to get out of the city. Most of these folks are what we refer to as the down to earth downstaters. They know this is our home and they respect that. They had to get out of suffolk county completely. They said it was unbearable.
The stories they have been telling around town is enough to make your skin crawl. If you were to take that poll now I bet you a lot more signers would have a NY after their name. They feel they have been screwed over big time. Most agree that the reason they tolorated the huge cost of living and doing business in NY and having a big federal government was so that when things like Sandy happen, their beloved government will save them. Well, guess what? They aint got shee-it and the government stops in one or twice a week in an RV office and tell everyone they are working as fast as they can.
They are now learning the errors of their ways. I think they are ready to send a message.
