    Now I'll look into my own crystal ball

    Debt increases continue at $1 Trillion a year or more reaching $18-20 Trillion in the next two years.

    Budget impasse every spring and fall with continued last minute deals that continue to overspend our means, adding more to the public debt in order to keep the welfare state alive.

    Over 50% of population on some form of government assistance within two years.

    Our credit rating gets downgraded again in the next six months to a year. Unless spending brought under control, could see us with a A or even a BBB within two years.

    Bush tax cuts expire. Continued levels for middle/low income families, rates on upper class raised to a minimum of 40%, probably more as an "emergency" measure to bring down the debt. (look at France and the 75% proposal)

    Continued media hype on gun violence that brings about a new gun control act, either through Congress or by Executive Order, probably in the next year to 18 months. Limit on types of weapons, bans "assault and military style" weapons and limits the number of rounds carried.

    Since the die has been cast on the individual mandate in the SCOTUS, continued government oversight and overstepping by dictating more items the public "must" have. Flex fuel/alternate fuel vehicles is one I can see becoming "mandatory" in industry to reduce carbon footprint. Maybe going as far as limiting cylinders on personal vehicles.

    Coal industry all but dismantled in the next four years, probably legislation/Executive Order in the next year to two years making low pollution requirements so unobtainable industries are forced to convert.

    Continued support for revolutions we know nothing about that bite us in the butt by killing our ambassadors and security details (okay, kind of a given)

    We pull out of Afghanistan on time, country ends up back where it was on 10 September 2001 within six months.

    Rise of additional and more vocal groups clamoring for Red States to secede from the Union.

    Continued media hype over stories of white on minority crime.

    Continued assault on Christian groups.

    Partisan politics continue. Impasse in Congress means more Executive Orders.

    Continued shady dealings in Washington by using Executive Privilege to cover up violations of the law and protect the guilty. Media all but ignores this. (again, kind of a given)

    Gas prices continue to increase in relation to flex/alternate fuels. Probably hitting $6-7 a gallon in two years which in turn forces the public to buy alternate fuel vehicles and/or more gas efficient vehicles.

    Keystone Pipeline gets bogged down in more environmental studies. TransCanada eventually gets right to build into to Vancouver due to lack of approval from Administration. Offers oil to China. We miss out on the opportunity to become more energy independent from the Middle East.

    Just some rambling thoughts...

    I'd say those are insightful thoughts Grand. Yes, I think we are past the tipping point and I think we were even before there was a thought that BO might win a second term. I mentioned in another thread that months ago experts were discussing the ramification of a second term for BO. They all gave us 12 to 18 months before we collapse.

      And to throw a little gas on the fire..... There's still the simmering tension between Israel and Iran. If that blows up, the U.S. will probably get dragged in, along with Russia, who supports Iran.

        That's assuming that DaDa finds it in his heart to back Israel rather than let them face Russia/Iran alone- which wouldn't surprise me a bit with no more worries about re-election. Even if he does step in, I doubt he would know his behind from a hole in the ground as far as leading a nation at war- he hasn't done anything to impress me in his first term in a 'cold' conflict; a 'hot' war facing Russia and Iran will most likely cause a yellow stain to appear on the White House carpets.

            Over the last few years I've noticed anti-semetism on the rise in our country just as it was in WW11. It took Pearl Harbor to get us into that one. I think BO has helped this rise in our country. I heard a muslim leader in Egypt quoted as saying he was happy about BO's re-election because he's embracing his Islamic roots. Oooooohhhhboy...gives me comfort about our muslim in chief.....

              I believe the government will continue to far outspend its budget, making up the difference in borrowed money. Things will start coming to a head within the next 2-18 months with the government being forced to pull out all the stops to address the problem. They will raise taxes, induce new/expensive fees for all sorts of services. They will try to reduce services, but the people won't have it, demanding all the government paid safety nets we currently enjoy. I predict that within the next 4 years America's federal budget will be so badly broken we will be forced to openly default as a nation. At that point, our currency will be greatly devalued and an economic depression the likes of which America has never seen will follow. I'm talking about 15% or more of the American population dying off as a result of hunger, violence, exposure, disease, etc. One of the biggest problems we will face as a nation is the sheer volume of career welfare slugs, who have no work skills or ethics, now having no source of income. The blue areas of the state election maps we saw will be the worst affected as those areas are the most dependent upon the government working properly. If you currently live in one of those areas, I would consider moving. We will see America and the world fundamentally change over the next 10 years in ways we previously couldn't have imagined.

                without trying to start a fight....the republic as we know it is dead, dead , dead.wont be spending as much timne on any of the boards from now on....need to get ready.

                  Completely understood, 556x45; can't say as I blame ya a bit. Things are going to get uglier and uglier as time goes by. The world economic Ponzi scheme is teetering and will come crashing down in the near future and we are need to be ready.

                    Very insightful thoughts Grand.

                    I'll add a few more that I see escalating...

                    1. Rapid increase of Drones flying over the USSA in order to better spy on people who don't fall in line.
                    2. Expansion of "The Kill List" which will start including more Americans (This goes along with rockriver's neighbor disapearing). Once again for not falling in line!
                    3. A BIG influx of Blue State voters coming into Red States, due to the fact that Obama's FEMA won't rebuild for all the poor people (Obama Phone People). This cause and effect will slowly turn Red States into Blue States due to their 12 plus welfare kids will be able to vote soon enough.
                    This is the same problem Houston is having now, with all the displaced Katrina victoms.

                      Yea with Obama being re-elected, America has sent a pretty clear signal to the world that we're AOK with adding 6 trillion dollars to our national debt every 4 years. I'm thinking that signal alone should set the default process into motion.

                        There is a bright side..If Isreal attacks Iran or Syria and all heck breaks loose with Russia wading in almost all of the blue areas on the election map are in the major Nuc target areas!! That will be one heck of a change in the voter demographics...
