  • What is your take on Smart Meters?

    This was sent to me from the head of the local Sons and Daughters of liberty group. It concerns what happened when a local couple refused the Smart meter.


    Subject: Important information on Smart Meters.



    Dear friends,
    A couple, Don and Sherry _ _ _ _ _ , residents of _ _ _ _ refused the smart meter that OG&E is installing in our homes and business. The _ _ _ _ _ 's had posted a warning sign stating that they refused the smart meter, padlocked their gate and meter box. When the contractor for OG&E came to their home they refused the smart meter and were put on a refusal list. A few days later, the contractor returned and did install the smart meter without their knowledge. Mr. _ _ _ _ _ tracked down the contractor and told them they did not want the smart meter and wanted to know how they got into back yard with a locked gate. The question goes unanswered. The police were involved. The _ _ _ _ _ 's were told that if they did not accept the meter they would not have electricity. OG&E shut them off yesterday morning. Their electric bill had been paid to date.

      Free enterprise. The electric company is selling a product. If you want that product you follow their terms and conditions.
      If you do not want to follow their terms and conditions, generate your own electricity.

        While I agree with RicePaddyDaddy, I have to say that my current residence has a smart meter, was there when I rented the place.

        As a ~reporting device~ mine stinks. Day One that I moved there, we had a lightening strike, On the Pole that feeds my House! the Transformer exploded.... I still have shards of Power Pole Wood in my yard.... And After they repaired the equipment, do you think I had Power?

        NOPE, and no report to them, even though the Meter was "active" as far as I could tell... As I come from a Family whose Father read Power & Gas meters, we were trained to read them, to be sure we were not cheated in Billing... (it happens) I could no more tell you what my current use is, than I could lift your vehicle, to help you change a flat tire!!!! And I am not weak!

        Then again, being in the boonies, the worst thing I notice is brown outs, for no apparent reason: And I have lived in many areas that Rural is the key factor: usually means power outs in storms, etc... but this company is the Pitts!

        Just one more reason I have done self created power supplies for the last ten plus years on a Serious Basis, and lived partially off grid since 197+ I can't remember which year, after `74 it was!!!!

          I have a meter that is read remotely because our property is fenced and all the gates are locked 24/7/365, denying access to a meter reader.
          We have to do this to keep our animals in and other animals (2 and 4 legged) out.
          I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary, and we have had this meter for at least ten years.
          If anybody comes over my fence without a badge and a warrant they will be held at gun point until a deputy arrives.

            We still have the old dial indicator meters on our house. I suppose I dont have to worry about it for quite a while.

              I came home and found that my meter had been changed out without my knowledge. they are reading them by satellite in India of all places. I don't like it one bit but now I have no choice unless I go completely off the grid. It has been on our house for a couple of years now. We are in the Oncor service area so they control everything electric. You may get you power from one company or another but Oncor is the delivery system for all of them. GB

                They are puting them in at our old neighborhood and most people dont want them due to health reasons. Some are telling not to put them in an others are unaware of it happing to them.

                  I will fix their butts...I will hook the generator up to the tractor, run that sumbich up to 3/4 throttle, and make the smart meter run backwards. Blow the black smoke from untaxed Ag fuel right up to the nearest cloud!!

                    My take is you take/buy power from them then you play by their rules. real simple
                    Tamper with it you will be charged, read the agreement
                    Disallow the reading you will be disconnected, read the agreement
                    They have the right to upgrade, replace or install equipment, read the agreement
                    You signed the agreement when you had the power turned on and this gave them the right, an easement of sorts if you will to do what is needed all the way to that meter. After the meter and into the house well thats a different story. Also you are responsible for many meters if they are damaged by storms if the line pulls it off the wall after a tornado as many have found out in this state.
                    Again read the agreements. All this agenda talk and huff n puff after the fact is kinda silly because it was allowed it by having the power turned on

                      I appreciate the comments guys. I'm not suggesting anyone refuse the meter since it's a technological upgrage that will allow meters to be read without the reader either coming into the yard or using a spyglass to read it from the street or alley.

                      I am simply curious if anyone is aware of what Agenda 21 is and the various inroads that some in government and private industry are using to incrementally implement it. Just like Onstar, endidermal gps chips, etc...this technology can, and eventually likely will, be used for nefarious purposes. This same tactic has, and is, being used in many countries and goes by many names but has the same purpose.
