  • Now....we wait.

Well, now we play the waiting game. Spent the day getting home, property, animals, and fire trucks ready for the incoming storm.
Chickens, rabbits, cows, and horses are all set. They have strong shelter, plenty of food and hay, best of all, they require no electricity.
House is always ready so there is no real "getting ready" other than ensuring lamps are full, match containers are full, and candles are placed in their spots. Oh yeah, fill bob.
At the station I ensured all the tanks were full on everything from the apparatus to the 3gal. tanks for the chainsaws. Talked to the usual group of responders about the usual flood zones and what we do with them. Upadates on flood mitigations since the 100 year flood of 2011 and the 100 year flood of 2006.....yeah, bit of a pattern going. Also changed out a transmission coolant line on the rescue. Got the ball put on so we can hook on to the boat if we need it.
Now, the wife and I are sitting back on this very warm (60*F) October evening enjoying a flavorful red wine on the back porch and listening to the folks on the weather channel have a weathergasm.

Pleasant way to await a storm. Sounds like you have done what you can. Always seems to me most folks relax and unwind before preparing for the storm.

Ok, Gus! Be safe up there. Anyone need an ear on a frequency? I know the NHC has the hurrican net on or about 14.325.

Getting some good wind here in Ga. Had to climb out of the stand once I heard a really big tree fall within 50 yards.
Y'all stay safe up there Yankees
