low activity at cannery

    note.. i did not specify which cannery in my first post..
    but the lds cannery has come up..
    i just posted an old response regarding non lds going to the lds cannery..

    another couple of comments.

    i have seen some real rude posts regarding the lds canneries on the internet (i'm not lds)
    posters bragging about how they gave the managers a piece of their mind, or shouted at the volunteers,
    or how they caused trouble when something didn't go just their way.

    folks these canneries are private.. owned by a religious organization..
    please remember to be reserved in your actions if in person, and on the phone...
    polite actions will allow go far, and encourage the lds to continue to allow NON lds to make purchases there.

    this is not the same as going to walmart and getting to shout at the mgr. when anything goes contrary to your wishes.
    the managers are volunteers.

      I've never seen anyone being rude to the folks at the LDS cannery. We have always been treated with kindness and respect whenever we are there. I'm not LDS either and I said so the first time we went. It wasn't a problem. I plan to continue to can and buy foods there. It's a great resource and everyone who uses it should be thankfull for the opportunity. We all need to remember that we are guests at the cannery.

        Ditto. Those folks went out of their way to be kind and helpful. Hope they have an opening so we can go back and buy a bunch more!

            The one we went to was managed by a young married couple. They were very nice and helpful. I'd love to have that canning machine but bet it costs a pretty penny!

              They were volunteers and were very nice and helpful. We had a limited discussion on the topic or prepardness but it was nice to speak with someone who understood it would be so. I appreciated them taking their time to teach someone not exactley the same as them. We are in it for the same purpose and the ability for all of us to set aside those differences is a good thing. It is the same in our small collection of folks. We all have small differences in our beliefs but set them aside for the common goal.
              While I doubt my being there was a blessing for them as much as it was for me hopefully they were able to see good in it. The blessing for me was the ability to learn, the abilty to share the experience with some great people and seeing that their are some other decent folks out there who prepare that arent so caught up in politics and their religion that they become blind or mean. It may not sound like much but my day to day contact with decent people is very limited and sometimes I forget that all is not lost in the world so decent folk contact is very valuable to me and re-energizing.

                  You need to be brought in by a LDS member. Georgia Preppers get together a group to go twice a yr. You can add your name over there on their site.

                    just checked with my wife.....she thinks it must be a local policy.says the one here you don't.....check with your local cannery to be sure.
