  • Wheat

    I just purchased some wheat seed from my loal co-op, to plant in a deer. plot. Is this seed eatible? Can I grind it into flour? I am a little lost on wheat storage and uses. Thanks in advance for your replies

    Look on youtube for videos made by PAW Productions - delta69alpha and also Survival Report. Watch these videos they will help out a LOT!!

    Also there are some storage videos in the member section of this forum. Hope this helps.

    Seed wheat IS NOT edible!!! You want FEED wheat if you are going to store it and eat it.

      I did ask for feed wheat at the co-op , but I think they sold me seed instead. How would you tell the differance.

        It will have a pink or purpleish look to the kernel that is either germicide, fungicide, pesticide, or any combination there of. Inspect the wheat before you go home with it and reiterate to them repeatedly FEED wheat for your animals.

          I am familiar with the coating on comercial seeds but was not aware it applied to wheat. Thanks

            Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Here in the Southeast sometimes it is because of some early planting time bug.

            If it's discolored like 610 mentioned then it's probably treated. You can usually SMELL it.

            A little bit ain't gonna kill you, worse case if the scratch and sniff test pas
