I found both episodes online at Hulu.com, this site would be my first stop for tv shows....i know a lot of people have switched to hulu plus and dropped their cable box.

TV Show -- Revolution

I'm ok with this show so far. Complaining about it while we watch it is part of the fun. It is certaibnly no "how to", and the plot is unbeleiveable with some thought, but the characters are a little "pre-SHTF" becuase the general audience woudl be saying "huh? if it were more psychologically realistic. And I beleive anything that gets anybody thinking about even minimal preps, the better for all, especially in a reasonalby short-duration SHTF.
Now, on to amusing aspects.
1. The girl was pre-school when the blackout hit. But when uncle intends to kill bounty hunter who was after him with deadly force, she balks. And he listens! She would have a whole different ethical scale, having lived her entire cognitive life in post-SHTF.
2. Good thing they stored and/or found some sweet-fitting jeans. Who knew that in 15 years, their daughter would grow up to be a hottie, and need them? Luckily, they weren't used by anyone else in the past 15 years -- they are nice and new. Just her size! (Mind you, this, although absurd, makes it more watchable IMHO :-)
3. No electriticy, very little industry possible -- but we've since produced very complicated-looking compound crossbows. quite a bit of machining required, i woudl guess. making muskets would be more feasibile than the "low tech" cross bows.
4. As someone else mentioned, if after 15 years, the decsionmaking process of the uncle is to listen to his spoiled neice and her "I instance you take me along, never mind that I abandoned my firneds out in the middle of no where", it is hard to see how any of them lasted this long.

Just seen the infamous poisoned whisky scene, I’ll give em that one...

I watched the first few episodes, and so far the show is bothering me a bit, too. I plan to watch a bit further in, but the first thing that came to mind is...what about steam powered anything? I mean steam engines were around long before electricity was used. So they let the railroads go to s*** and don't even consider the use of steam engines? *sigh* I did really like Jericho though. This one isn't nearly as good, but I'm sure it'll last longer since the lead is in skin-tight pants and they do matrix-esque fight scenes with bows lol

Ran a steam train last night. Acted like it was the first one attempted in 15 years. Planned to blow the whole thing up with about a half cup of some crystalline chemical hidden in a hollowed out log.
Also, jeans still fit, thankfully.
Absurd discussion "When i was four (pre-blackout), you visited us, and you sang along to the tunes in your car. What happened to that uncle?"
This was her reaction to being scolded having done something threatening their whole mission and her brother's freedom (blowing their surprise, bascially, by not following orders to avoid conrfrontations). In other words, a teenager diverting responsibility for a poor decision. So what do the writers do? They have the uncle be sheepish about the non-sequiter accusation.
How is scolding you for screrwing uup and putting lives at risk mean he is no longer a good guy? Huh?
Also, now there is a Latina woman in the mix (her clothes fit, also),

We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

OK, late weighing in on TV shows as usual- just got the DVDs last week.
Ahhh, it's entertainment. Kinda hard to watch but entertainment. The main girl is killing me with the looks- it's like Zoolander with "Ferrari, Letigra and Blue Steel"....
The acting is awful but I bet Grover Cleveland High School is very proud of their drama club actors!www.homesteadingandsurvival.com
