  • New Survivorman and One Car too Far

Les is back after a while off. He is still one of the true "Survivormen"
Look forward to what new techniques he tries. He did build the still tonight to make fresh water out of saltwater which is something I would love to try if I lived near the ocean.

This other show is on now. These dudes got a jeep and are bushwhacking through the jungle. One is a SF and the other is scared of bugs. Lol

recorded the "One Car to Far"
Its kinda neat in a way. I enjoy the offroading and resourcfulness of the pair of mismatched men. I also enjoy that they show true timelines on offroading, seems many think offroading is baja speed stuff. I have spent many an hour trying to work thru an issue and gotten home wayyyyy to late after a mishap. The communication between driver and codriver is essential to keep from breaking parts or tipping.
On the first episode its not all jungle some of it was on logging trails thus the saw cut tree stump he tied off to etc.
Lots of widow maker wood in that jungle. The fire building method was good but i might have sacrificed some of the foam in the rear seat cushion for dry tender. I also think using the battery is risky because if you use all the power or short it out you are SOL.
I love the "Why do I have to go out there?" "Because your the survival expert" LOL
Kinda funny how they didnt show him "catching them fish".
The water fording was good, they took the doors off to fill the car with water making it heavier, anytime you are in water if the doors arent off then windows down and seat belts off so if anything happens you can escape. Getting wet is just part of it. Even if you are on road and attempting a water crossing after a flooding rain get the windows down, especially them electric ones because if your door panel shorts out you can be in the suck pretty quick trying to figure out how to break a window.

If you deal with such things this knife was like $20 and has a glass breaker on it.

I also sometimes will go ahead and unwind the cable from the winch so its easier to run out and tie off.

Anyway its a decent off road/survival combo that has some merit, looking forward to some more episodes

2nd episode was more of the right thinking with slow is sure. The snow grave isnt a warm bed of coals but its a site better than a car. Vehicles in themselves are poor shelters when the temps are extreme in either direction. The windsheild cover is a good idea but it didnt "work" as they said becasue there wasnt any weather that night.
Little dude got him some cold hands but didnt know to exercise and stick them in his pits. They had a fire after the vehice broke down as they came off the glacier. There is nothing but rock up there so what were they burning? hmm
High lift jacks are good but sometimes other types are needed. I carry 3, high lift, bottle and the factory

On the broken half shaft the sled idea is good or you can build a frame the only allows the wheels to slide out so far but the tires will wear against it hard and it is short term either way. Good thing it had lockers or it wouldnt have been able to pull it.

Ok super driver stated that driving down the knee high rock riverbed was best because the ground is hard. Yes but in the depths of the water you cant see axle busters so without a support crew i'd take a different path IMO.
Good message on the downhill rock descent of keeping 3 tires on the ground whenever possible. Slow and sure, small angles so ya dont roll.
I liked using the winch cable tied to a boulder to make the tarp into a tent in the absense of other stuff. Poop fire, love it but dont wanna cook the marshmellows on it LOL! How many have actually made fire with the cigarette lighter?
Using a wet stick for a wire, thats crazy but cool. i woulda used a wire from the radio or something thats not needed but they are trying to teach. I always have bailing wire or can find some round here anyway so that would got used to fix that sparkplug wire or just tape.
They made fire with potassium maganate? from the med kit and antifreeze? Never tried this, gotta wait for the burn ban to go away first or might go to the pokey LOL

Got around to watchin this one on a rainy day, PTL for the rain, interesting show on the dunes. They were on spot with lower tire pressure on sand and I do enjoy watchin them ground guide when needed.
The egg in the radiator hole was a neat trick. The fire with fuel, sand in an ammo can was interesting and something i'm gonna try hopefully without blowing up LOL, might be my last video posting LOL
The solar still is not something i've had alot of luck with but maybe need to keep working at, IMO its a short term fix and your gonna die if its your only source
It appears the whole thing i shot in Chile with all different terrains
