It's what happens when you put a bunch of amateurs in charge of the military. It started a long time before Obama though. Wasn't it **** Cheney who outed Valerie Plaine? That one got people killed. I'm not an Obama supporter, and having worked in Military Intelligence I know how important it is. The thing we have to remember is that now, it's not about the boots on the ground, it's about political expediency. Will it make a good sound bite for your side is more important than the grunts on the ground. Frankly, I think it's disgusting, but nobody asked me about it.

I find this so sad. I have been saying for a few years that our country will not survive another 4 years of Obama. How can he be that ignorant?

Politicians can not be trusted no matter which side when it comes to ops. This admin has a long history of selling out to the press to a higher degree than normal. All politcians have underlying goals that take precendence over opsec.
HUMINT can not be underestimated but it also brings in issues as they can talk to you they can talk to others as well. OPSEC is the hardest to achieve with this type. When the admin sells out these HUMNIT assets they not only lose them they sometimes turn against you which is what happens in the rockpile most of the time. They feel sold out by us.
On OBL all they had to say was "we got him" and thats it.
Also these grrr reporters that are imbedded are even worse for us and constantly give up intell and opsec. It's bad enough watching the nightly news where they put the position of the tac team on live tv so the bad guys can see much less having your every move in war critiqued.
I know this may tick some off but this is the byproduct of having non military leaders with no directional sense and no higher calling to keep them hushed up. It's hard to relay that to them in terms they understand because they have never lost any of their people, well because they dont have people and the same responsibilty in the same way. Many LEO agencies are the same way too being run by educators rather than those from the line and there are usually trust issues between the teams and the admin.
Politics and ops dont mix but there will always be that link as things are run by the civilian side so this respect must be learned and achieved in order to save lives.
