    I wish EMP on no one ,not even mosquitos.

    I dont think an EMP burst would be anything like the 1800's, it would be more like the 1500's. The Dark Ages. Medieval. There would be more plague and disease than anything. Undisciplined shooters would run out of ammo so fast, they would have to resort to close combat, axes, machetes, etc. Back when men were sick, barbarian even. I want no part of that crap. I will defend my wife and kids right now with anything I can, but I may get lucky and can easily be taking to a hospital. Post EMP, I will just put one in my dome if injuries were bad enough.
    I think after just a week after an EMP it would be worse than any nightmare or scary movie, worse than anyone of us can imagine. I dont think anyone is totally prepared. All it takes is a well planned siege and that Rawlsian retreat is coals.

    I also think there would be tons of suicides. TONS! As well as the nastyness from no toilets and people dying.

    We all read the One Second afters and the Normals and Patriots type of books but those are fiction, that ish would be as real as real gets. I like the PAW fiction because it gives some GREAT ideas and planning but nothing is like the real thing. I know some of you guys on here have seen REAL HEAVY combat and it was probably nothing like you imagined.

    I plan on watching my kids grow, watching my wife beautify even more with age, and maybe someday section hiking the Appalachian Trail before I am 50. Honestly I have NO CONTINGENCY PLAN for an EMP other than take it one second at a time.

      What unit did that? The reason i ask is because mine was the first one in and they didnt. Anyone who was there knows that 45th OKARNG was the first in and was on duty before even the home state was. I know of several incidents but no kickin in doors by OKARNG. I know who did but your research is wrong

        ive never read,heard about AR/NG units disarming residents,all ive seen and read it was New Orleans PD..now,who gave the order,chief of police,govenor,POTUSA,dont think i ever heard who gave order
        I HAD RATHER HAVE 12 HONEST PEOPLE JUDGING ME,AS TO HAVE 6 CARRYING ME...

            And BTW, Infowars isn't exactly the best reference you could have picked. Alex Jones isn't a newsman, he's an entertainer that finds the most shocking stories he can without any credible references or proof and/or taking things entirely out of context or stretching the truth as far as he can without being too absurd. Just a lot of "I heard from a friend's cousin's brother's roommate's girlfriend's coworker" that it happened, but never any actual source.

            Again, just saying.
            Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

              It was long ago so memory is foggy... But it was after the great Major (how did he get re-elected?) openly suggested that it happen (if I remember right it was on 3rd or 4th day). Also if I remember right most of the Kicken In doors and taking weapons was done by Local Law Enforcement, not so much the National Guard. Also the areas were they focused this "Gun Gathering" where areas that did not have the problems to begin with.

              My biggest problem about the whole thing is that the LEOs that followed the "Un-lawful" order were not put on trial or punished for it. The mistakes were not pointed out and made a teaching point and the media acted as if it were a good thing.

              The LEOs and the people who gave the orders all should have been sued and media should have made a big deal about it... To insure it did not happen again! But as of right now, if we have another town that goes "WROL" for a few days we can expect to see the same action...

                I too remember that it was local law enforcement that went around confiscating guns. I remember the elderly lady they tackled because she was hesitant to give her gun up, and I remember that most of these folks didn't get their guns returned and later one media source tracked them to a shipping container where they'd been thrown in 55 gallon drums and the moisture in the air had rusted them all.

                That whole situation could have been avoided if the citizens had done what the Bush administration and FEMA suggested....leaving, and Mayor Nagan (spelling?) didn't help by telling them to stay. He made it worse.

                  It kills me that the Mayor is the one that did not:

                  #1. Read his own City's Plan for emergencies.
                  #2. Ask in a timely manner for Help from State/Federal Goverment

                  Once all was said and done they then blamed it on everyone that was not part the City Government and the residents believed it and "Hired" him again!!! Because he played the "RACE" card!

                  How can the Mayor of a major US city, with FULL WARNING about an incoming storm, not even read the plans that were created by that city for that exact problem? And because he did not read those plans lots of people lost their lives, where stuck in places without food and water and many raped and robbed. And then turns around and gets re-elected. I was amazed about how dumb the majority (or atleast the voting majority) is!

                      I'm sorry, I don't live in Georgia, though a part of my heart will always be in Dixie. I lived in Alabama, for awhile and had family on both sides of the War of Northern Aggression. My mother's family moved from Georgia to Missouri after the war. I reside in Michigan.

                      As to the preps; I'll have to talk to my sons. They're the brains behind that aspect. They understand all that stuff. If I do, I'll start another argu-- 'er thread.
