I bought an old Atlanta Stove Works Huntsman model wood stove. I have used it for at least 15 years to heat our home. Now the new insurance company wants to confirm that it is has a Underwriters Laboratores (UL) number. The metal plate with that information came off years ago. Does any one have a model like this and can still read the UL number on the plate that is attached to the metal hearth on the front of the stove?
If I can get that number we can get home insurance. If not I am out of luck. Since this stove could of been made way back in the 40's I do not even know if the Underwriters Laboratores was around then. The Atlanta Stove company closed some years ago I believe. Any help or information will be greatly appreciated! We have less than a week to get this resolved. Thanks for your help.

Being that old it doesnt have a UL # and they probably wont insure it. Ran into that in a house I had before

Wow! That is gay! I really hate insurance companies..... They will screw you six ways to Sunday if they possibly can. :(

Just as a matter of asking, can you get a certification on older items like this? Like an inspection or something?

I admittedly don't know that much about UL certifications.
