  • The List

This post is not directed at anyone in particular and I say that because in the last 48hrs I've had discussions with several folks.

"Don't do that because you will be on THE LIST". If I had a ammo can everytime I heard that I'd have a house built of cans.
There is nothing illegal about anything I do, period.
"Well your a gun owner and they are gonna outlaw guns and then your on a list for being in the NRA, member of the local gun club, using a debit card to buy ammo from wallie world, going to the gun show where they take pictures of everyone entering, ordering stuff online and your neighbors will tell on you".
Look at the number of gun owners in America and tell me where we are all gonna go?
"Well there's them secret fema camps for all you on the list". HOGWASH they dont exist and they couldnt feed Katrina much less that many folks especially if they arent paying taxes.
"Well you bought all that food and they know" Yep there is some agency worried about my rice and ignoring all the cocaine, meth, rapes, shootings and other bad stuff destroying our society because I"m an issue. LOL
Did Kalifornia use their lists to round up all the evil Ruger 10-22 owners after they passed their laws? No
"The Governments gonna take over". The Government is in charge dummy that's why they are the government, that's what it means.
"They are going to come get you". Who? First it was Soldiers, then the NWO, then the Feds, then the UN, The Cops. Been hearing this since the 80s and it aint happened yet. I've even been accused of it and had it almost go to gunplay because they were convinced that I as a Soldier would come and get them and I had the audacity to be in on their meeting. I had been there since the conception but had suddenly become the enemy with an attitude shift.
It has always amazed me as well that LEOs and Soldiers especially former ones are at the front of the line pushing the "they are coming to get you because you are on the list" agenda. Did you do that when you were in that position? Were you thinking about it? Were you planning on it? Did you have the resources to do that? Did you run out of other bad guys when you were in? Then where did this come from all the sudden now that you left or retired?
I'll tell you what it is. Your bored.
"Well when I was overseas" What? You rounded up all those foreign preppers who kept to themselves and hoarded seeds in their hajjis? Or did you spend your time and efforts on those who caused issues and problems? Tell the truth because it's plain as daylight to even those who didn't serve. If they had 3 tons of rice and were supporting the enemy thats one thing but that's not what we talking about.
The list, I have held clearances, been in jobs and positions where my DNA, prints and credit history and life have been picked apart right down to my neighbors who really didn't even know me were interviewed. I'm an open book and never once did they ask me or anyone they interviewed if I was a prepper. No one cares.
So you think you wanna be a survivalist and can just hide out and be left alone forever till "things get better" because your not on a list. Things will never get better if no one steps up and makes them better there prepper. If you hide and tremble and do nothing while it falls apart like taking a stand, calling politicians, joining groups that take action (in the right way) and become a viable part of society then you will reap what you sow. You can't get squash if all you allowed was tomatoes. Why would you even want to live in that environment anyway, that's not living. You don't like the way schools run then get on the school board and make changes. That wont get you on a list unless you can conjure up some other crazy scenario of evil blue uniform agents rounding up school board politicians.
During the flooding in the Ohio valley areas do you ever remember a press statement from the National Guard complaining that they didn't have to rescue this family because they had already bugged out? During Katrina do you remember when they said those preppers who are being self reliant and don't need anything from responding agencies are such an issue they must be dealt with? During the numerous tornado breakouts do you remember when the Red Cross was so upset that many didn't need anything because they had prepared? On 9-11 did anyone get picked up on a prepper list? Of course not, that's just silly and no one had a "prepper list". Bad guy and possible bad guy list yes but not "preparedness". In fact it's the opposite with states and feds trying to get people to prepare for at least 3 days.
I have a friend who lives in another state who is totally self reliant. He believes he is on "the list". His thought process of "I don't need anything and am therefore uncontrollable" is nothing more than egotistical. First off he still goes in and buys stuff and orders things online so he's still a part of some stuff. Secondly the They, Them, Those are unconcerned with him as he doesn't truly participate in life and therefore is no issue as he doesn't vote or really provide much in money or anything else of value. When he went off the grid it's not like Bill Gates quit making computers, no one noticed nor cared. Thirdly he still has to obey the laws and does so.

Things can change and they might get worse but in the meantime
Prepare, Live and be a part of life. Make educated choices based on fact and not hype.

Bravo, Matt! You have expressed my feelings better than I could have.
I myself am on a lot of lists, but I don't lose any sleep over it.

+1 on that. Between a TS + security clearance (in the past), gun purchases, carry permits, on and on, it's almost impossible to stay off the 'lists'. We're guaranteed some privacy but not anonymity.

*sigh* It is now clear that Matt isn't the super-stealth-ninja I thought he was, because he is not using his super-stealth-ninja skills to avoid being on THE LIST. I mean really, if he had super-stealth-ninja skills, he would be using them to avoid being on THE LIST!

WOW! Never heard someone slapped with so many words! JK, LOL.

Truer words have never been spoken. I even have a LEO friend who won't go to gun shows because of fear of having their pic taken.

This kind of reminds me of the time I was talking to a middle-aged factory worker in the heart of Missouri. He firmly believed that the CIA was keeping an eye on him. I remember thinking, "Hmm, lets see, every raghead in the world wants us dead, half of South and Central America is sending their unused drugs up here, along with gang members to deal them, the Russians don't like us much after we announced that we were putting a "missile shield" around them, and several other countries on the planet would just prefer that we went away, and the CIA has time and resources to check up on a guy in some podunk town in the middle of the country?" Not likely. Even if they have computer programs scanning the net looking for buzzwords, when they find one a human still has to look at it to see what context it's in. If you use the B word, (with a b on both ends and a bang in the middle) someone has to read it to figure out if you're talking about tearing something up or about the movie you saw last night. Now, add in the cell-phone chatter, regular phone chatter, (because everyone KNOWS they're listening, right) emails, tweets, etc. and think for a minute about how much manpower that would take. It gets pretty obvious pretty quickly that it ain't happening. I'd be willing to bet they've got a ten-year backlog on what they have now, and that's only about two years worth. It would take half of the population to keep track of the other half, and you would know someone who was doing it. I don't.

Matt, they found me last night at the condo in Orlando. Black chopper was hovering. 3 old bearded gents banged the door down and asked why I havent joined the NRA yet. I told them I shall. They said, that my name was still on the list though. That list.

I aggree that stressing about being on a list is not really a valid worry. As long as you dont do anything to be on the "TOP" of any list then dont stress.

If the government decides to take guns then you will quickly know it when it starts. If government starts to round up those with food stores than you will know it soon enough.

As long as your not in "Top 100" of that list you will have time to make the hard choice of either running, turning the stuff over, trying your luck in court or some other much less desirable options.

But if your trying to tell me that they don't have "The List" or "Lists" then I will ask you about the "No Fly List" or "The Kill List" both of which have been reported in main stream media and admitted to by numrous government "Officials" (remember they are no longer servents, they are officials, you must do what they say, like dictators/royality/wardens). The big problem with these lists you have no way of knowing if your on them, no way of knowing why, no way of getting off them and no one to even talk to about it.

Yep, one of the conversations but by far the least paranoid of them all by a long shot, ZZ Top asked you about being in the NRA?

LOL I take this post back as some of you are making a list by your commentaries hahahhahaha
