Max Velocity Tactical Presents: Contact! A Tactical Manual for Post Collapse Survival

This manual is the result of a detailed consideration of a societal collapse and the civil shift and aftermath that would impact individuals and families who are intent on survival. The purpose of this manual is to provide information to enhance security, tactics and survival skills of law-abiding citizens who are faced with civil disorder, lawlessness, violence and physical threat in a post-collapse environment. The information in this manual is derived from years of experience gained from service with special operations forces (SOF) followed by years of employment as a security contractor in hostile environments including Iraq and Afghanistan. It is a distillation of military and security training, principles, and tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) adapted to the threat and environment anticipated in this type of scenario in order to provide knowledge needed to train to survive in a world turned upside down. It is no longer just survival of the fittest but survival of those prepared. The manual will take you from self-defense as an individual, team and family, both pre and post collapse, and move on to tactics, techniques, procedures and training that can be used by tactical teams that you may need to form in order to survive. In a serious post-event scenario, one of total collapse with several months or years before recovery, families, groups and communities may be forced to create such tactical defense forces to protect personnel, loved ones and resources against marauders. There is something in this manual for both the tactical newbie and the military veteran.
The author is a lifelong soldier with extensive military experience. He has served in both the British and US Armies. He served with British Special Operations Forces, mainly with the Parachute Regiment which is Britain

Well, I mailed it to the new review guy for Survivalblog, and will wait and see (actually, I also mailed to it Rawles himself as well to see if he would be tempted to review it!) So I hope that works out for me, fingers crossed! Other than that, the book is really just out and no-one knows about it, and I would appreciate reviews (preferably positive ones) on Amazon and also here on the site. If its good, it will stand on its own, and I won't have to worry about the reviews....

It should be, as kindle and paperback. I ticked the boxes for expanded distrubution. Because it is just out it is hard to find, without a link (it needs more reviews to get up the search lists). I found it by searching for "contact max velocity" so maybe try that on amazon.co.uk and hopefully it will pop up. Let me know?

Ok, started reading this and I am impressed by alot of the material.

One thing I can say thats not a positive or a negative but a statement is that, just like the ability to perform the skills listed in this book, the reading and studying of this book will take TIME. If you think your gonna read this as a one hour self help like so many other prepardness books and become and instant leader of sheeple that folks will make a movie about "one day" after you save them, then this aint for you. This stuff is real and it takes years to develop and there are only certain places you can get it and its not from a pretend organization either. This stuff is only learned by real misions, real hunting, real group training and togetherness and dedication.

Many of the areas will take several readings to soak in the full content and will take time, patience, practice and casting aside the egos to get it right. It is one of the hardest things to do because of the widley varied dynamics of a true family unit. Compared to running a unit of fit, fire breathing go getters like I am used to and trying to transfer it to my family unit as well as my new extended family unit is an absolute nightmare to me. Its not that it(the tasking, the mission) cant be done, its that it cant be done in the same breakneck speed and orderly fashion and the fear of me getting a child or someone I love hurt or KIAd is painfully stiffeling. Having raised children and having taken others children hunting/fishing/off roading is hard enough without badguys. Just think about trying to winch a truck thats stuck in the mud out by hand with little johnny n susie running around like banshiees while you work, now throw in you trying to expidite this manuver because the hoarde is desending with bad intentions and see the stress level rise. There are things to do/think about/practice now that will assist in this and bring it home.

You do not need to have been an operator shooter to understand this book either, even us low life thought of logisticians understand it. Given my background though I have a little more insight than many having been direct support for 20yrs and a non military operator so the thoughts of those outside of the game should be heard as well IMO. I'd like to hear from a houswife with zero experience or an accountant who has only has their ccw for 6mths or something along those lines too.

I will try and do a large review once I'm complete and I will add one to amazon as well.

After my First attempt with Amazon, I decided to avoid it like the Plague!

I feel the same way about google, only Times 10!!! TEHO, still applies....

My question is Will this website be selling the book, or is there direct access to buy the book, that I might have missed in my myopia?

PJ: if you want to avoid Amazon you can get the books directly from CreateSpace. You can find the links on my website here: http://maxvelocitytactical.com/ or:

P.S. CreateSpace is an Amazon company, so if you want to avoid that altogether the books are available for order through booksellers so you can get the ISBN from CreateSpace and have a bookseller order it. Thanks.

This is a very good book the however for most folks is the same thing that keeps them from already knowing the subject material and that is the length of time. Too many do not want to spend the time (years) that it takes to become. It takes years just to obtain the training on sleep deprivation, resourcefulness, weapons, though processing etc. I do believe that some of the readers here have what it takes and will step up to the challenge and if nothing else work on a select portion of the material.
This is not a short book, it is not an unwordy book and it is not something you will read and just know. You will still have to spend and dedicate the time to become the warrior you seek to be. This review will not be a short one as neither is the book. I will touch on many of the areas but will not give away the content. I don’t agree with everything but anyone that knows me longer than 5 minutes knows that’s gonna happen LOL. I am commenting on the good, the bad and what I would like to see more discussions on.

Areas I would like to see more dedication towards are gangs because they will not just disappear because they already do not rely on societal rules to exist. They in fact will be some that "thrive" because of the lack of rules of fairness in their choices.
I can see many getting in their feelings because they believe their group, organization, militia to be the total answer but will undoubtedly come up short. Hopefull the egos will be tossed aside and the lessons will be absorbed because this is just too important for those you love.
His approach to combatives, fighting and the way are dead on target especially for the family unit. Little kids are not operators even if they are capable of killing. His approach to fitness is also on target though I would add more stress related fitness because the adrenaline dump plays into the cardio area greatly during a fight. Bottom line get in shape, be real about it. Yes it's hard that's why you didn't do it before.
Weapons and body armor, love the message, layers have them all, use what is needed. Don't get caught up in debates. If you are debating then you haven't done killing. Killing is where it's at. No you can’t kill people except is certain situations but even the soft eyed deer is tougher than most men will ever be. (Again goes back to spending the time, get off the Harley or couch and in the woods). I recently failed and had a failure during a hunting trip and had it not been for extra gear it would have not turned out as good as it did.

The leadership section is excellent if I added anything it would be the best leaders are the ones who surround themselves with the best people.
                              Bugging In/Out
Great chapter will probably take multiple reading to gather all info. Don't wait to make the choice, get thru the OODA loop and don't think you will never have to leave. That's ridiculous. There's a lot of tough choices to be made right now! Operators are cool but LOGISTICS rule! A lot of this stuff is learned by doing. Many folks struggle just going on vacation now throw in all the bad stuff like hostilities and boom many families will collapse without proper education, training and most important practice. Hunting trips will help if you don't have the Military experience. When you hunt (real hunting) you need your weapon, proper cloths, gear and transportation, physical fitness etc. and all of them together. If any one piece of the puzzle is missing then you fail and will not be happy. You fail post SHTF and you will die. When bubba forgets his belt to strap his pistol on hunting well he gets made fun of, doesn't carry the pistol etc. When you forget in SHTF you may die. Reading this and better yet practicing is gonna get that grey material moving and might even plant some seeds and give you some ideas.

I see many things in the following chapters that simply are not doable such as spending time explaining the 240B or the 60. Those that aren't familiar with these will be lost. I will add that for those that are will have to think outside the box on this and decide what support weapon you will use to replace it. At best it might be a M14 or a heavier barrel AR/AK for a civilian maybe with a drum. I guess there is a remote possibility you have class 3 or would run across some post SHTF but I wouldn’t spend a lot of time right now on it.
Using the box or diamond formation and then mounting vehicles quickly takes practice and I would recommend using an older civilian vehicle for practice because they are nowhere near as robust as an army vehicle and I can see 6 folks loaded with gear shoving into a ford tarus from one side and door panels getting broke, the rearview mirror breaking and make sure the windows are rolled down so a rifle barrel don't knock one out LOL. I wouldn’t use mama's new shiny car for this or there could be some cold dark lonely nights coming.
Overwatch is going to be a friend to the family unit during movement or day to day taskings. It's a boring, grinding duty that is over sensationalized by hollywood and gunwriters and requires at least a designated shooter if not a sniper skill level. Yet another reason to go to the range:) Like i ever need one but just in case.
The drills, assaults and especially the contact drills, mmmmm, those are hard and the terminology is gonna lose some folks. Some of these are going to have to have an instructor IMO. I'm afraid the terminology is just something that folks are going to have to learn if they want to learn the material. I have a hard time wrapping my head around assaults, such as bunkers, in some of the book given the family unit I am going to be working with. A lot of this is simply not gonna be used unless you have a hardcore unit and some of it is just best left to the military IMO. There are also more drills than any family unit can possibly learn in under 20 years. I have ideas about a variety that I would stick to for our small circle.
Prisoners, this is an area I have considered writing more on a thread. It is a very difficult choice and if you decide to keep them it opens a whole new area especially without the logistics many in the Military and LEOs are used to. Searching techniques are easily exploited by criminals and terrorist who constantly train and dedicate to changing tactics and these must be rehearsed.
Duties, ahh the ever present thorn in the NCOs side! In an extended family unit operating in SHTF conditions someone will have to make rosters and be fair as possible. Truth is its very hard and even many managers have no idea how to do it because they don’t run 24hr ops. Unless you have dedicated night owls then someone’s sleep is gonna get interrupted with shifts. Someones gonna be in the weather and someones gonna have the kiddos etc etc.
OMG I think this is the first time someone could actually justify the use of one of them fancy dancy combat tomahawks in writing LOL! For all the affectionados of the battlehawk with ideas of grandure of whoopin behind like Mel did in Patriot then this here part is your justification:)
LTL weaponry, can’t say enough about having some now and knowing how it works and what it does. There’s really only one way to know this and that’s to suck it up buttercup and take one for the team! Real friends pepper spray friends and make them fight thru it:) What dont kill ya makes ya stronger!

If you get halfway thru this book and still can’t figure out why you can’t do it alone then you aren’t paying attention! Are you getting the idea that just by my commentaries there is alot of usable stuff in here?
I know that a lot of this stuff in the book is going to sound like the Red Dawn mission brief where you might feel lost momentarily but that’s just the way it is because there are only certain folks in the world that do this for a living and they have a language that can only be adapted so much, so find a vet, bust out the dictionary and expand the horizons. This is a good read and while not as hollwood exciting as some others fiction it is real, it is real important and should be on a list of must reads.
