    Perhaps, WTSHTF, some working and prepared folks will decide to repossess some of what they have been forced to share for all these years. It might behoove the leaches, and the moochers, to at least attempt to be discreet.

      While most of us here are prepping for a SHTF moment that we hope never happens, when I'm standing in line behind these kinds of folks, I can't help but think that maybe a "culling of the herd" via a SHTF event might be over due...
      when the nipple runs dry?
      riots, cities on fire, attcks on communities...destruction...there's not gonna be very much left, not much to rebuild on....but it will just happen again.....people never learn

        I've been disgusted by this for years. In the late 90's individual's, some with foreign accents, came into the emergency room and used a "gold card" that looks almost identical to a Gold American Express card. As nurses don't discuss payment with patients, the clerk handled this. I remarked casually that there sure were a lot of people paying with American Express. As I tend to be somewhat naive, this comment became a joke among the Emergency Department staff.

        I started to notice that the users of the 'gold cards' worn designer clothes, a significant amount of gold jewelry and had an attitude of rude entitlement. They frequented the Emergency Room frequently for minor problems.

        Common conversation:
        Gold Card User: "my arm hurts" Nurse: "how long has your arm been hurting." Gold Card User: "oh, 2 or 3 months." Nurse: "have you seen your doctor about this?" Gold Card User: "No.

        This happens over and over again in Emergency Rooms across the country. That why medical bills are so high. You pay not only with your taxes, but with higher payments for your own health care.

        The federal government has gone insane with politicians who continue to get votes by giving money and benefits away to and group of people whose vote he thinks he can get. We don't need anymore politicians. We need a patriot. I haven't seen to many patriots in Washington these days. Have you.

          It's the same all across the country. America has forgotten how to work. It's not PC to look down your nose at someone who is abusing public charity. I'm all for helping those in need, but there's a big difference between true need and sheer laziness. I'm tired of seeing folks who can't afford groceries on their own buying soda, chips, cookies and other junk food on an EBT card (Arkansas' version). Then, they pull out their cash and buy cigarettes and beer. You go to their residence and they are paying $8 a month in rent, but their car has brand new 24" rims on it. They wear clothes with price tags that make me shudder, yet their children are getting free meals at school. They get their utilities subsidized, free phones, and on and on. The only thing they don't have... a job.

          When my life took a downturn, I didn't ask for charity. I started getting rid of the extras. Dining out became a thing of the past. Rice and beans were pretty popular for dinner. Trips to town were thought out. Cable television went away. Old clothes were made to last. I scrimped and saved and pulled myself up by my boot straps... even when the boots had holes in the soles. Yet everyday I see folks that have no job and no intention of getting one that are living better than I was then. It doesn't make sense. Someday soon America is going to be bankrupt enough that the public charity programs can't provide. When that happens, I fear our "fictional stories" will come to reality. It's gonna get ugly.

            Now Rockriver, I have always known you to be a charitable man. You don't think you should pay for Big Mama and her baby's daddy to live large?
            I don't either. Thing is, once .gov stops loading those cards they will become the zombie horde. The Escalades will be prowling the boonies for food. But a country boy will survive.

                And I thought you guys in the States didn't have these sort of problems. It almost sounds that your problem is worse than ours over here in South-Africa. Government grants makes up the income of the majority of the voting population. It's like buying votes. We live worlds apart and still face the same problems it seems.

                Over here less than 7% of the population pays 99% of the income tax. It is really upsetting to see single parents being rewarded by the state to have illegitimate children. Government grants creates more problems than it solves. Not sure what will happen when the money dries up.

                  I agree, we definatly take too good care of our poor. in Afghanistan (I served two tours there) if you are sick or disabled you starve. not a bad system to encourage you to work for a living.

                    Two edged sword in my opinion. As Believers we are called upon to help others.

                    Realistically, I have little plans to do this after something happens. Why cause I'm a heartless arse? No, the security risk.

                    It will not be about stopping people on your county road using the same ambush point over and over and then giving charity to the nicer appearing ones. That's a recipe for an attack, a hostage situation or any number of things. As I stated 14 years ago on the radio show, better bet would be to find a small local church in your area and if you are really dead set on dispensing charity after TSHTF, bring a good amount of stuff up there immediately afterwards, preferably in a vehicle not recognized in the area. Leave it with the pastor, explain that is it, everything extra you can spare, but you heard some people might need it, he can dispense it as he pleases, here's some for the pastor's family, etc.

                    Too often you see/read the idea that someone dispensing charity will add some coercion in and/or develop the SMALL g "god" syndrome. Giving a bunch or even a little of our stuff will be like giving a lot of money now. And we know how some folks worship money and stuff. Some feel like they give $10. and they "should have a say" in the organization., church, etc. If you want it going to a specific thing, then designate it that way and leave it in the Lord's hands.

                    It's a great concept (dispensing charity) but it's going to be hard to implement AND keep reasonable security after the fact.

                    I see this idea weekly folks- their is ALWAYS someone who for whatever reason thinks they can knock you off your perceived pedestal. So no matter how tough you think your group is, how hard you can make it, giving things out makes you a TARGET. Even a little puppy can get "froggy" and try to jump on the big dog every so often. People have unrealistic views of themselves, their abilities, their chances, their luck. I see this weekly, guy comes in from off the street, maybe trained once or twice, maybe just watches a lot of UFC (LOL) and thinks he's gonna hang with people that train regularly. Sometimes if they are stubborn and stupid, they leave with broken arms or take a little nap for a while. Often they learn from it, sometimes they don't. Never underestimate people's foolish'ness.

                    Even if your whole crew makes it unscatched from some crumb snatchers attack, you still have the mess to clean up and potentially the trouble.

                      The STATE should NOT be the one to be the "Charitable" organization. It has to much red tape, loop holes, and much larger overhead cost. Charity needs to be handled by individuals and charitable organizations that can deal with people abusing the sitution, changes to economic climate, local needs and more easily help those in need get back on their feet. The government system (mostly) does not help you get back on your feet.

                      My family was poor when I was a child. And when I say poor I mean there were times without electricity and running water (and this was in the 80s) and when we did not know what we would eat the next day. My mother could have made more money by getting on the government system than working for min. wage at KFC (it was Kentucky Fired Chicken then), but she knew that once in the system, there was not much way out. So instead we had to suffer while she worked us out of that hole because while the Food Stamps and other "Handouts" look like they help, they actually come with a hidden cost as they often "trap" the ones they are "trying to help".

                      And I think back now and am so thankful my mother would not take that help from the Government because if she had, I most likely would be there with my handout to this day.

                      I knew we were poor and at times things were tough on us. But I had a wonderful childhood. My mom came home from working everyday and because she knew tomorrow (or next year) would be better (or might be better) she gave us (all our family) a since of hope and I believe that hope allowed us to be happy.

                      If your getting your food from the government you dont have that hope of things getting better, because if things got better than you would not get your hand out.

                      The government system has major limits on what you can earn, how many hours you can work, and rewards you for having more children. This encourages those "In Need" to stay in need of help. Where an individual or charity will not put those types of "rewards" for "bad behavour" in their system. They will give you a hand out and a leg up at the same time. If you dont take the leg up you will not get any more hand outs. They will help you help yourself not reward you for watching day time tv.

                      Poverity is not really that bad, it is what you do in your poverity that can make or break you. If you feel bad for yourself and demand your income/food from the government than how do you ever expect to get out of it. But if you try to help yourself, you ask for help (instead of demanding it) from your local community and you work hard, than most likely you can over come the poverity (My family is living proof).

                      In short the People are better at helping others than a centeral goverment can ever be.

                      The Communist thought the could employee and feed everyone... But we often forget that they starved millions to death and out rite murdered millions of others before they could even think about doing it.
                      Great thoughts Not Yet Prepped. Patriot Lady and I fee the same way. Besides paying our taxes we have given to charities and ministries over the years because we wanted to, not because the government said we had to! Individuals, churches, charities, etc...have always done a good job of helping those in need. Now the governmnet is intentionally making it tougher to do that. They want to be the "helper" only because they want to dictate every breathe we take. Unfortunately it will take civil unrest + to get most of these tyrants out of office and I think it will have to get much worse than it is now for that to happen. Like you, we will decide who we help and don't help.

                                don't I know it..they think lets go to Utah "them Mormons have been storing food for ever...yip and some have been storing ammo about as long.:)
