I guess it's time Obama and the world got together and sent them a care package of 500 billion so they'll go back to sleep for a couple yrs.

NK reminds me of the fairy tale about the little boy who cried wolf. First reaction is "yeah sure" ha ha. Then the wolf came, everyone was surprised.

I don't know if you noticed it or not, but every time the North starts getting antsy, the U.S. and South Korea has an exercise. They do that so the U.S. will have extra troops in the area, just in case. I spent three years in South Korea in the military, ('76-'79) and we had a HUGE exercise every February. They figured that if the North was going to come south, they would do it in the early spring. The reason for that is that the rice paddies are still frozen, and they can drive the tanks over them. By holding the exercises, they are telling the North, "Just try it." Keep in mind that the people in charge in North Korea have the collective intelligence of pond scum, and are mostly interested in staying in power. Since they spend the majority of their GNP on military supplies, they are constantly running out of food and other stuff that the general population wants. By maintaining a war footing, they convince their population that it's necessary to do that. At one point, the people were eating the bark off trees in an effort to stay live. One other thing: There is persistent indoctrination in both North and South Korea, and both have people who are willing to die rather than submit to the other.

In South Korea, when the economy did a major dump, the government asked the people to donate scrap gold to get everything back in order. The people did it. They put out buckets to collect the gold and whatever else the people wanted to donate, and collected enough to get the country back close enough that they didn't default on their debt obligations. Makes me wonder if that would happen in the U.S.
