Starting to prep for what?

I hear you. Being the wife of a trucker, I see the economy going south faster than most people. The cost to send the freight is going up, the price they pay the drivers is going down, and for the owner-operators sometimes that can show up as negative payckecks, after paying for fuel, road taxes, and insurance. then they pass the inflated price on to us the grocery store. Better to have a little on hand now before alot of things become unaffordable.

Like you guys, we feel this house of cards we call America is collapsing before our eyes and most don't realize it's happening! We think what's coming is inevitable and a new President and/or new members of congress aren't going to be able, or willing in most cases, to stop it in time.

Awesome Scott! You're prepping for any number of possible events which I think would be good for every citizen to do. It would make surviving, repairing and recuperating from any event easier for the citizenry and for those whose job it is to help in times of need...and those who volunteer.

It does not have to be like on Doomsday Preppers, where they all have somethig that galvanizes them to start prepping. It can be as simple as runaway inflation. I am on a fixed income now, have a good prep pantry, so I do not have to buy unless something is on sale. That is yet another use for prepping. Things happen, prepping makes it less stressful since you have the tools to go to plan B, C, D, or even Z. So don't look for an excuse, just do it. Everyone used to, it was called self- sufficiency, and every little bump in the road did not cause one to go running to someone else for help. Dont be fooled by the gubmint folk who want EVERYONE dependent on their inefficient and ineffective 'programs'. You can die before they do you any good, and there is no better way to twist folks arms than to have them dependent. Think of it as independence insurance, if you want. Just DO it.

That's where we're at Kappydell. We can wait for sales to buy necesseties. That's a good thought on life's interuptions....car repairs, home repairs, medical, etc...It's good to be ahead of the game. I think everyone here is ahead, no matter where they are in their prepping simply because they are aware something could happen from losing a job to losing our country.

the water got 5' high in our house a few years back. for many days.
we had no flood insurance, because our house was way above the creek and not in the flood plain.
this resulted in a huge financial disaster. the roads were blocked and we couldn't get to stores.

we moved. the creek near our new location. gets high enough that you can't drive through it, and it is dangerous to
walk through. everyone else will be o.k. but WE will have limited ability to go to the store
we didn't think this through very well!!

foreign armies and terrorists. would love to get their troops on our soil. they would like to get our resources, women,
and destroy our country.
domestic terrorists and traitors. this group is growing rapidly. they denounce the constitution. they want to take from those that work and give to those that don't. listen to what is said and it will sound socialist. if they take your money, and you can grow green beans, you can live longer and better. having some green beans in a jar in a shed ahead of time will help too!!

my well doesn't work. i just hung up with the well man. he can come next tuesday. lots of people's wells aren't working now. see my prayer request for more rain in the Prayer room. prepping for a lack of water is a good thing.

our nation has progressively turned it's back against the God who created us. (if that ref. to God bothers you, please stop reading, you won't like the rest of this part) He has laid down principles and statutes and requested that we follow them.
in His love for us He declared He will bless us if we follow his instructions. but He also said that if we turn from Him
that He will send enemy armies, stop the rain, leave us to our own devices, etc...
Our country has turned against Him. no need to list examples.. they are in the news.
i don't know what plague, army, pestilence, earthquake He will choose or allow. but it has come to my attention that
we sure do have a lot of faith in our economic system. there is an argument that americans have made the $$ our God.
so... i'm beginning to think that preparing for the complete failure of the $$ would be a good idea. this section, is, i believe the main reason we should all be prepping. if we can see a high probability of a flood or a famine coming, God gives us Word that tells us to physically prepare for what he is sending.

rockriver, Patriot Lady and me find ourselve praying more for the rapture the older we get. We're prepared to be raptured, if that happens in our lifetime, but until then we'll continue prepping for whatever's coming down the pike before then.

Jerry, I'm with you on 90+% of those reasons for prepping. Regarding a few of them, Patriot Lady and me won't be here to see them.

I'm with you though on just prepping for everything you can think of since there are so many common denomimators.

"Survival Mom" has a simple test;

1.What is the most likely natural disaster in your area?
2.What is the most likely extreme weather event that might affect you?
3.What is the most likely personal or man-made crisis that would affect you? Examples: long-term unemployment, hyperinflation, civil unrest.
4.Finally, prioritize these in the order they are most likely to happen and you will immediately have a focus for your preparedness

Start with this and work your way towards the most likely scenarios..

I tell the family that we're prepping because:
the economy is weak,
the country is 16 trillion in debt,
Europe is on the skids, and might take us with them,
China and Russia don't really care if our currency goes to crap,
One terrorist group, or Iran, with a missile on a cargo freighter in the gulf, could EMP us back to the 1800's....

But my biggest reason for prepping.......
