I am in dismay. The snowball keeps growing. I am blessed to have insurance through my company at this time. I hate it for the folks that dont have it and don't care.
Sad day for this country

I agree. The "law" should benefit me, right now we pay close to $5k annually in insurance, according to the online calculator on the Drudge Report, we would have to pay less than half that. I really think that everyone SHOULD have insurance, BUT I don't believe the government should be able to FORCE anyone to purchase ANYTHING!

Reason: changed would for should, clarification. I don't expect anyone to pay my way.
I went years without health insurance cause I couldn't afford it...with my last employer it would have cost me $7200 per year, most small companies can't afford to pay a large portion of the health insurance premium and when the premium was that I hi I couldn't afford it (thankfully I didn't need it and my wife had insurance). If you can afford it you should get it because its wise to have it, I don't think people should be forced to buy it especially when they can't afford it now. If you happen to be above the 133% poverty threshold doesn't mean you can afford it and if you are below that threshold all of us taxpayers will be paying your bills oh gee isn't that nice for the rest of us.

I pay income tax, sales tax, capital gains tax, social security tax, medicare tax, property tax and a host of other taxes and fees for services I do not want because if I don't they'll send people with guns to my house to either take me to jail or kill me if I resist. This is nothing new.
Right you are. But I do see this as different. This is the purchase of a product or at least it was - seems it has now been redefined as a tax.
The tax is imposed on those without insurance. One need not purchase insurance, but if that is a case there is a tax imposed on them. Taxes are an infinite loophole for the government. They can impose a tax on anything at any rate and be in the bounds of current law. This is why the ATF requires a tax stamp and paperwork along with it for NFA weapons. They want the paperwork and registration, but that is against the second amendment. A tax on the other hand is perfectly legal for them to do. Any legislation can be made legal when wrapped into a tax.
Might doesn't make right, but it sure makes what is.
50 years from now, when pundits wondered what happened to freedom in America, two days will stand above all others: Jan 20, 2009 when the marxist Barack Hussien Obama was sworn in as POTUS; and June 28, 2012 when the Supreme Court ruled that any and all tyranny enacted by the federal government was totally legal.
My many times Great Grandfather fought for our freedom from much less oppression than this as a Private in George Washington's Continental Army.
I'm sorry, Grandpa, all the privation and hardship you endured was for naught.
I'm litterally sick to my stomach about this.

yeah I get to pay $900 in extra taxes so that I don't have to spend $5k in health insurance and remain a self pay which is still way cheaper than having HI.
Just what I need another tax. I have insurance from work but my GF has none cause of no job. People better wake up, the goverment is trying and is taking over right in front of our eyes. Now when my GF gets a job she'll have to use most of her money just to comply with the new law. Thanks Obama.........
you know what I love about this country - the fact that we can have these discussions and not have agents busting down our door - even though some things suck, this is still the best country in the world

I was talking with management today and asked if our insurance rates would go up. They replied, if something doesnt give in 133 days, the magic 8ball says Probably So.
And think of how many companies are going to cut all benefits period and just pay the fine because it will be cheaper.
This is a dark day in our modern history.
This and the day that imbecile was inaugurated.
