  • Survival films are hot.

There seems to be a lot films about surviving on the tube now, I just saw another one on the Discovery channel called "Man,Woman,Willd" I can't see where any of them make much sense for Americans as many senarios take place in other countries and they're the same old story, building a fire and shelter before the storm hits. None of these shows will prepare a person for anything that people could be facing today, even the Colony

Duel Survival-- one guy walking around bare footed all the time but seems to know what he's doing
Man vs. Wild - Bear Grylls was staying in a motel while filming one show where he was supposed to be in the woods. usually bites a head off a snake.
    The Colony- beyond ridiculous
there are many more. but these come to mind the fastest. I think people should be spending more time learning how to grow food, prepare food with no ele or gas. find food and learn what plants are edible in their area.sprout seeds, how to stay healthy, ect.

Yup, now that would be a good show. We tend to watch these shows though, better than what else is on, I guess. Once in a great while you do learn something and then you can go to your computer, look it up and learn more. I do hate Bear Grylls though. In my opinion, he only does things to make the show seem all dramatic and dangerous and most of those things are just stupid.

The only three things I give credit to Bear Grylls is:
      1. He is in great shape, hasn't let stardom get him fat, and does sports I only wish about...
      2. He eats and drinks stuff I don't think I could, even in survival...
      3. He is knowledgeable enough that I would want him with me in a survival situation... at least to do the crazy stuff I can't...

Fishing Waders May Have Helped AK Plane Crash Survivors

Forget the politics of this and focus on what they did to survive. These type of things can be learned or at least get you to thinking in the right direction on these shows! I'm not sure I would want Bear with me, I've seen him eat and i'm afraid of what I might start looking like to him on day 3. LOL

People can and do think beyond the conscious level. We've all experienced a feeling of unease at times about a person or situation. I think that a lot of people today have a subconscious intuition that something serious is wrong, but refuse to acknowledge the 'impossible'. End of the World movies describe this hidden fear, so that the movie goer or TV watcher has a sense of overcoming.
