When will you bug out?

1. when you hear something may happen on any media
2. right after something starts or happens
3. days after
4. weeks after
5. months after
will you hunker down first and then bug or bug first ?
and what will it take for you to bug out?

The main problem with a "bug out" is timing it.

Timing is indeed the secret. Anyone who remembers the hurricane evacuations making I-75 I-95 and the turnpike a parking lot would realize that you must bug out before anyone else. You may have lead time in a hurricane, but some other major event may give you no warning.

This is a question where the answer is wholly dependent on the flavor of what ever hit the fan. One may have weeks, days hours or no time. When decision time come, The leader of a group will make it (This is no time for a committee meeting). The rest just say yessir and put their butt in the truck. When,exactly, to bug out? You should have researched, in advance, under what circumstances or conditions your location becomes untenable. Be gone before that point.

The only way I will relocate is if there is some type of natural disaster or WMD event. In the case of mobs, civil war, etc. it's like this: This is my country, not some foreign land. If I can't have peace to live and let live, I don't see much reason to live afterwards. I will fight to the death to stay and protect what is mine.

boltgun308, I've read enough of your posts to respect your feelings. If I was alone, I might share your sentiments. I can't ask my family, or any of the other families that depend on my judgement, to follow me down that path. We can go out in a blaze of glory, as individuals, or we can gather together, honor the oath that many of us have taken, and kick zombie a$$. BTW, I lived in Opp Alabama for a while. That's PATRIOT country.

Interesting question blackhawk. Depends on geographics, demographics, local and/or regional politics, distance to likeminded family and/or friends, available transportation, personal financial situation, can we maintain security in our home?, etc....

Patriot Lady and me were hoping to find a bol for our next home but couldn't find a suitable country property within driving range of my job. We ended up buying a home in the small town I work out of that has has a bit of space between it and the neighbors, privacy, large storm shelter, water source lots of storage and much less expensive than the home we're currently in. It also puts us just a few blocks from my job instead of 22 miles so if something happens we're close to each other. Moving July 10th!

We will have to search for a bol and are already working on transportation to take us and as much of our stock as possible there in the event we can no longer stay in our home. Patriot Lady promised me if we purchased this particular property I could sell my SUV and buy a 6X6! I'm holding her to it! We're only an hour away from Camo Corner that has about 20 nice hard tops and soft tops to choose from and I'm eyeing a carport tall enough to tuck that baby in next to the house!...and it'll be fun driving it to work....chuckle...

Some survivalists I've run across are strong willed and content to go it alone. If I had a large enough acreage in the country I might do that and invite likeminded family and friends to join us if they needed to if the shtf. I only have one family member I trust enough to live with us. Some survivalists I know would likely band together, maybe choosing some pre-determined place to meet. There was a fellow on this board a few months ago that said he is living in his bol and was inviting and interviewing any folks who wanted to go ahead and join him and his family as long as they meet certain prerequisites. Can't remember his name?
