has anyone here read the book "ONE SECOND AFTER" by William R. Forstchen? it is novel based on EMP attack on USA and its effects..when i started reading it,i had hard time putting it down..so,if USA had an EMP attack,would it affect the inverter on a solar elec system? if so,is there anyway that an inverter can,could be protected against EMP effect? would an invertor be protected wraped in lead and buried? im very curious since i plan to start installing solar soon and going off grid

yes i read it. It was "ok" at best. You can sheild anything from EMP, just matters how crazy you wanna get.

I really enjoyed it. It was a real and detailed account of how human being react to TEOTWAWKI. The characters are real, and some of them react the way I probably would. The events that would happen if the U.S. lost its' grid, are absolutely true. In fact, reading this book, showed me the first steps i needed to take. In the novel, the main character is not a prepper. In fact no one the the town was. If you want a real account of what probably would happen - read it.

It is a good book. Sheilding is possible but it also depends on the strength of the EMP. It is very time consuming and expensive. I'm not going to say ignore EMP's, but I see more imediate threats than this that are needing preparation. protus,could u tell me a safe,senseable way to protect inverter from EMP? or point me to website that would tell me how? please post it here so others with interest can take precautions if they so desire thanks in advance
