  • Oxygen Absorbers

Did a search on oxygen absorbers looking for a way to preserve left overs from going bad. Is there a simple way to save the unused absorbers. I hate to waste anything, if it can be helped. I sealed up 20 5-6 gallon mylar bags today and had left 3 unsealed until re-ordered oxygen absorbers come in. I had to buy 5-2000cc and will only be using 3. I plan on doing some more sealing, but not for a few weeks. Just seems like every time I do this I come up with extra mylar bags to seal and have to open a 10 or 20 pack of absorbers. Any suggestions ?

These best way to preserve them is to vacuum seal them in as small a bag as possible.

I put my left over absorbers into as small of a mason jar as I can get them into, they'll seal it themselves. I usually use pints.

Are there any retail stores that sell oxygen absorbers? Wal-mart?
Just wanting to try some since I'm new at this. Hate to order a large packet of them online and end up wasting them.

I've never found any o2 or maylar in brick and morter stores.

The only brick and morter store I've found them at is the Survival Store in Marietta, GA. As far as I know that's their only location.

I've only found them online.... When I get them, they usually come in a plastic pouch... I cut the end open, use what I need, then seal the plastic pouch shut with our clothes iron. It seems to work.

                great ideas.
the lds canneries sell a large "clamp"
you remove the absorbers as you need them
then seal the bag with the clamp.
