Even though I'm a 'girl' I really enjoyed both" Patriots" and "survivors" , I couldn't really get into the techie stuff but the story was well told and CLEAN I was never embarrased to read them. and I like the way the two books blend to make one story. I can't wait for the next one. and as for the personal business with his late wife I would like to do the same for my husband if I had to. A way to let him know that it's more than ok to move on, to help him find someone suitable to help him raise our kids, and to let the kids know that that I'm ok with it too, and still trying to look out for them. And I loved" One second after", that one scared the heck out of me. These books are what kicked me in the butt and made me take a good look at the world we live in.
Patriots was the closest thing out AT THE TIME that depicted a group, prepared ahead of time and a survival retreat prepared ahead of time. I guess that's why I related so much with the work versus some of the other fiction works.
Bingo! I followed "Triple Ought" as it was written and posted for free online. As far as I know, there was nothing even close to a story such as this, in the late 90's. Alot of us didn't have a clue how to prep for the long haul(seeing it through to the end) vs having 3 days of food and water. The story opened my eyes to the severity of a major crisis lasting more than a few days, and for that one bit alone, I am grateful. I don't agree with everything in any FICTION story, it's fiction.
Oh yeah, "Triple Ought" was later published as "Patriots". My hats off to the guy for going mainstream and breaking the ice.
Welcome to Tennessee, patriot state of shootin' stuff.
