  • Federalist Papers

I did a search on this forum but didn't find anything on the Federalist Papers. These are a series of articles published in New York in the Independant Journal by some of our founding fathers (Hamilton, Madison, etc.) drumming up support and explaining the necessity for our Constitution. There's a great introductory article on APN titled "America | Our Beliefs and The Books We Read". It can be found here:

I read these articles years ago and this reminded me of their importance. There are 85 articles and are available (free) in PDF format from Pennsylvania State University (400 pages long). This is EXCELLENT reading as it give great insight as to what our founding fathers were thinking and their justification for a lot of what went into our Constitution. I just downloaded and plan to re-read the articles. As the APN article says, these papers are not generally discussed in our school systems. It's a crying shame that such valuable insights are overlooked. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and will again.

Here's the link to the PDF file:

    Very nice!!

People should also check out the Anti-Federalist Papers. Alernating these with the Federalist chronologically, should give folks a good feel for how the major concerns were openly debated by the public - the sort of conversation and debate that you won't find in todays biased "newz" outlets...

    Good post!

The Federalist Papers are the Cliff Notes to the Constitution. The Anti-Federalist Papers are almost frightening in the accuracy with which the authors foresaw the actions and abuses of future generations of American Governance.
