  • Top 50 Excuses for Not Prepping

HA. I can name people out of the address book on my phone that have said most of these.

[QUOTE]The following are the top 50 excuses for not prepping
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

I wish I could say that I've never heard any of these, but I have. The most common response is that of those I do talk to, (very few) think I'm slightly over the edge. I point out Joplin, New Orleans, most of the east coast during Andrew, etc. etc. and it doesn't sink in. Most think that denial itself is enough. Sigh.

Hey, my wife already thinks I'm crazy for starting to prep. My attitued is 'who cares'? I'll do what I gotta do. I'm just beginning but hey, if you never start, you'll never get there :-) And, yes, I've heard at least half of these excuses!!!

        Some quotes/reason to prepare;

Preparedness, when properly pursued, is a way of life, not a sudden, spectacular program. -- Spencer W. Kimball, 1976

Those who hammer their guns into plows, will plow for those who do not. Thomas Jefferson

Private-sector preparedness is not a luxury; it is a cost of doing business in the post-9/11 world. It is ignored at a tremendous potential cost in lives, money and national security. 9/11 Commission Report

Let us be in a position so we are able to not only feed ourselves through home production and storage, but others as well. Ezra Taft Benson, former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture

By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail. Ben Franklin

That government is best which governs not at all; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have.
City life - millions of people being lonesome together.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
Most of the luxuries, and many of the so-called comforts, of life are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind.
Every generation laughs at the old fashions but religiously follows the new.
Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. So aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something.
        Henry David Thoreau

These are some of the reasons I prepare. These Speakers were able to put it to words better than I.

Believing in a way of life is a great deal easier than believing in a disaster, collapse or even ZOMBIE ATTACK. I love what I do, therefore, I don't HAVE to work at it.

Enjoying the experience and joys of accomplishment is what it is all about in my book!
What is better than a 3 inch pattern at 150 yards or the taste of sweet corn you kept from the coons and deer!!

(I KNOW,,,,, 1" pattern and a deer in the freezer! but you get my drift!)
Do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do!

When I talk to my 30's something son about putting a little back for just in case, he gets a vacant look on his face and changes the subject to his game that he plays all the time.
Pray for Obama, Psalms 109:8. Before you judge me, look it up.

I think my tin foil is too tight.

Pop- getting him playing some of the Fallout games- 1, 2, Tactics, and I hear their is a 3 and 4 for Xbox (we don't have one). The original 3 are for PC. Fun games, role playing type games. I'm convinced the producers of the game got most of their ideas from post apoc movies like "Exterminators of the year 3000".

It sounds silly, but if he is into that sort of thing, it's a good segway into preparedness. I have two nephews that were all about playing those games when they were little, thanks to their Uncle. Both became survivalists.

Unfortunately, some need things like this to kinda see the light.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"
