  • Preppers on Local TV Channel

Okies both known and closet lurkers I have been informed that there will be a local tv channel doing a special on Ch 9 at 10pm on Monday night news, 21 May. I know one of the guys who was interviewed but am not associated with his group.
I guess we will see what happens and how they are portrayed. I do not recommend or approve of anyone doing this. Their views on OPSEC and some other subjects are different primarily I believe because we come from different environments.

You should apply to have "Matt's Minute of Madness" where you show the sheeple how to wrastle dinosaurs, where a Grizzly Bears weak spot is and how to kill an Octopus with a stare! :):):)
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Looked like a very reasonable story.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Just watched the video. I think it actually went pretty well. Not the crazies usually portrayed.

Yeah, a little over-enthusiastic...but not as bad as the Doomsday series LOL The overall theme didn't portray them as 'fringe' people like Nat Geo. Heck, they sell z-max ammo at just about every sporting goods store in the area...even zombie targets (yes, I bought a zombie clown for fun LOL). Ya can't expect to be on TV and maintain OPSEC.

wasnt that bad of a segment except for that part and the " theyre buying weapons..."

Like others have said not bad all things considered....

I give it an 8 out of ten, knocked it down a couple of points for the OPSEC, camo pants/black shirt, and "they're buying weapons".

Not too bad. I think the girl with the pantry was about the best. No last names, no location, had a decent concept of OPSEC. She was spot on.

Minor side rant...the Zombie Max ammo. Still can't wrap my head around it. Okay, so Hornady went towards a niche part of the market and sent it out. No biggie, but for those considering using it as personal defense ammo? Why, oh seriously why, did Hornady put the whole "This is not meant for live targets, only Zombies and we mean Zombies" on the box. If one happens to get into a shooting, self defense in normal times, and uses this ammo, I could see some slick lawyer attempt to use that in a court of law. Not that it might fly with a jury, but somehow I can see some bottom feeder using this as part of the defense of "The defendant was using ammo that is strictly forbidden from shooting humans with. It even says so on the box."

Maybe I just don't trust lawyers, but I think I'd rather go with standard V-Max over the Z Max. Just from a CYA perspective. In a WROL or TEOTWAWKI situation, all bets are off, but for normal times...

Back on topic. Give the report a solid B+ for presentation, A for neutrality, D for OPSEC.

I really like that it didn't make preppers out to be a buch of paranoid, mentally impaired, tin foil hat wearing, conspiracy theorists. (Although plenty of those types abound in the prepper realm.) I thought it was a nice way to introduce the idea of prepping and get people thinking about the "what if's" in life.
I wasn't impressed with Hal's lack of opsec tho.

I dont mind the "Look" but not when you are as soft as medicated cotton, pretenders get no respect from me, in fact I might clown on you just for fun

I think I'd rather go with standard V-Max over the Z Max. Dont care for V Max, doesnt hold together well enough, its for varmits. Now A Max on the other hand
