    I found an app called: 2012 Countdown and Checklist. Does anyone else have tools/ideas that will make prepping easier for those of us who aren't versed in the arts of survival? I have a shopping list and information bank in my pocket now, which is cool, but I was wondering if any of you have found similar stuff. Links will be appreciated. :)

    Use the search bar on here because Wiseowl and several have found some things for them high tech thingiemajiggers. There are hundreds of lists and tools out there. The majority are cookie cutter combinations and vastly insuffecient.
    Food, Water, Air, Protection, Shelter then branch out from there.
    You will need to decide what you are trying to survive. Then take the first one say FOOD:
    You then need to do a real assesment of how many (including those that wil show up), and what are your needs and how long.
    Example: I am trying to survive a tornado and make it until full support help can arrive which may be 3 days. My shelter holds 8. I only have 3 here but my son and girlfriend and my daughters boyfriend could be here and my neighbor without the shelter and his wife could show so I'm looking at 8. (I invited the neighbor therefore i'm responsible) 3x8 = 24. I need 24+ meals so I have ramen, canned veggies, canned meat, rice, stew, instant oatmeal etc. I also need to know if there are any allergies to food. 2 of us have heartburn issues when we eat so I keep a generic medicine in a 3 day supply. In the process of cooking we could be injured with burns or cuts therefore my medical kit in the shelter addresses this. During cooking there can be a fire therefore i need a way to control it like an extinguisher.
    NOW I need a way to cook it, water for the products and drinks to include caffine, cooking utensils, can openers , pots, pot holder and paper towels and soap (water) to clean and paperplates, plastic silverware etc.
    NEXT you move to the next topic in the list of protection, shelter, air, water for the storm shelter.

    This is an example and I didnt give up OPSEC for those thinking this although I dont use OPSEC on the storm shelter because I want to be found and dont care by who after the storm. I just want the trees removed and the top of that hole open! I will deal with whatever after that.

    I dont want to be to harsh but this requires alot of work and thought and planning from you, thats why the I's and YOU's are highlighted. Those lists, apps and tools can steer you wrong if your not real careful. Use them as ideas and primers for discussion but don't go much farther than that. This (Survival) is not an easy task and anyone who tells you they have the complete program in 30, 90 or 120days or has the complete list for everything is a liar because no one knows what YOU need or are trying to accomplish therefore it's all you. Do not fall for the socialistic mental attitude of well they have done the work for me so all i need is.....................

      Matt I agree. There isn't a timetable or complete list. Everybody's needs are different and there's no such thing as "having enough". This is a lifetime commitment of Prepping for survival, learning things many of us non-military city slickers don't know squat about and making very significant changes in our lifestyles and how we view the world around us. Everybody's an enemy until they prove otherwise.
