DH is out of town for a class on child abuse. Yesterday he overheard a man checking in to his hotel say he was from Chicago and was getting out of town because of the "riots." Do you think things are worse in Chicago than reported or do you think he expected riots and was just GOOD in anticipation?

    i found this article: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...chicago-braces

Towards the bottom of the article is this statement:

"HOPING THE BEST, PREPARING FOR THE WORST"

I found it ironic in light of everything.

I worked the one out in Colorado Springs years ago and we were told to expect potential protesters. Didn't materialize except for a few folks standing on street corners with signs that were pretty harmless for the most part. Now this is taking into account the Springs was pretty conservative overall and the military is a big part of the community there.

With what we've seen over the past few years with G8, G20 and other world summits in larger cities. And with the whole OWS BS going on, I wouldn't see it beyond the realm of possibility for some idiots to cause trouble in a big way. I doubt it would affect the entire city to a degree some might think, but certainly isn't a bad thing of getting out of Dodge by planning a vacation or business trip around the conference.
