  • WINDS OF WAR

    http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/LH10Ak03.html

Iranian and Russian nuclear scientists and officials have announced Bushehr's reactor will soon be receiving its first shipment of nuclear fuel 36 years after construction first began on the project.

This claim may be quietly fueling speculation that a military strike on Iran by Israel - or the United States - may be imminent.

It could happen very easily. If we are not perceived as strong (or strong enough) they will run over us. (pun intended)

It will happen one of two ways, first i would see them either testing the waters with Taiwan scenario or through a surrogates, a Korean conflict.
Second they will just do it quickly and over take us. As much as people would like to replay Red Dawn, i doubt it would happen, more like Patriots where we (our government) welcomes them in as protectors. Or problably more likely a scenario in a lesser read book by Jerry Ahern called The Freeman.

Russia see us weakened when we did nothing a few years ago when they took back some of their satellites.

And that's EXACTLY how the Russian mind views things like negotiations, etc. Thanks Eeyore! +1,000

There are a couple of problems here. First, we're already in three shooting wars. Iraq, Afghanistan, and we're still providing "peacekeepers" in Kosovo. A real possibility is that if China's economy collapses, and there's a lot of indications that it's getting ready to do that, they will call in the debt they own from the U.S. That will take out our economy, because we can't pay it. Then, once their economy goes, they won't be able to support North Korea. North Korea is in a Cuba situation, where they depend on China to continue to survive. If that support goes away, the ONLY thing they can do is invade South Korea. (North Korea has all the industrial facilities, South Korea has all the agricultural land. Sound familiar to any Civil War buffs out there?) The problem there is that the U.S. Second Infantry Division is stationed along the DMZ, which means that in order to get to Seoul, (the capital of South Korea) they North has to go through the Second D. When they do that, we're involved.

The next possibility is that Iran will do something stupid. The average Iranian is a decent person, and I've talked with several. They are as convinced as I am that their leadership is insane. (Sound familiar?) They have no more control over what's going on in Teheran than we do what's happening in Washington D. Ceit. Either they will do something stupid, or Israel will do something stupid out of paranoia. Either way, we're involved. If either situation occurs, China will sit back, watch us implode, then stroll in and pick up the pieces. They would then start picking up prime pieces of real estate. When asked for payment, they will hold up the pieces of U.S. debt that they're holding, say, "You owe us. Sit down and shut up." They would win that one in court. Something to think about?
