  • Jewelweed soap for Poison Ivy

I'm searching for some Jewelweed so I can make soap with it. Jewelweed is supposed to be great for poison ivy/oak, rashes, stings, and bug bites.
I found some Jewelweed extract, but what I need for making soap is a live plant or some dried Jewelweed.
Can anyone here can tell me where to buy some?

I did a quick google search on jewelweed and it linked the "touch-me-not" weed on the page. It didn't exactly say they were of the same species but used the two different names while discussing the pictures of the same plant..confusing huh?

I wonder if looking for the Touch-me-not" plant would be an easier route to take?
A desire changes nothing, a decision changes some thing's, but determination changes everything.

Yes, it has several names. Impatiens, Touch-me-not, Jewelweed, etc. They are all in the same family. I have read that Impatiens pallida and Impatiens capensis are the varieties I need to use to get the best results for my soap.

BOUNCING BESS, SPOTTED JEWEL WEED, TOUCH ME NOT. i don't think you will find it for sale. its a succulent that doesn't dry well. turns slimy of at best just wilts down to nothing. the good news is it grows in any wet shady to partly shady spot east of the rockies. i haven't found any in the rockies but that doesn't mean much as thats a lot of mountains where they could be hiding. they have very pretty bright yellow, pink, or turquis flowers all over and grow in large clusters about 1 or 2 feet tall so they are easy to find. just crush them up in hand and gently rub on arms etc. i don't catch it but had a young friend got it easily and it worked well enough for [poisen ivy. the soap part is a bit of a stretch though. i know the books all say the settlers used it but it takes lots.

Yeah, i kinda figured I might not be able to find it. That's okay tho, I planted some seeds for it yesterday so I'll just wait until it grows and use it fresh in my soaps.
