I was about to download a new update for Facebook for my android phone when I noticed that the permissions had changed. It was requiring control over the audio and video capabilities of the phone at any time. Why would Facebook need this for their application? Anyway, I am off facebook for the foreseeable future until they get their heads out of their....

Yeah, one could get conspiratorial about it, but many post photos and videos to Facebook, and Facebook needs access to those things to upload properly... I have family and friends all over the USA & world, and Facebook is the easy way we keep in touch, share photos and video, and otherwise interact via long distance...
Personally, I am long past the give a darn about what google, Facebook and whatever does. I know how to keep what is private, private, and misc useless info about me and my actions public... It is the price one pays for the service and convenience those service provide, as I don't expect anyone, even google or Facebook, to do something FOR FREE...
