Has anyone ever heard this before? Abraham Lincoln used this in a speech in 1858 to more than 1,000 Republican delegates. Now Lincoln is not someone I admire (I may get into that another time. It

I agree but to me sitting listening to local or state people try to change things is like banging my head on a wall. your local gov. is locals trying to be someone else ,they are acting like they have power.
Every election starts with i want to clean things up . people get all excited then what happens after elections evertything goes back to what about me thinking things never change every 4 years .new boss just like the old boss. Just my thinking on this.Last edited by blackhawk; 04-24-2012, 11:23 AM.

You're right. It's the same way here where I'm at. The election brought on more of the same ol same ol. I'm trying to get involved so hopefully I can change it or at least help someone else get their head out of the sand. I've had some people just send me "no" as a response. Cool. Do your thing, I'll do mine. I don't know the answers either. That's what I'm looking for, ideas and thoughts.אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

IT'S LIKE THAT ALL AROUND THE WORLD. LOOK AT ALL THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE GOING BROKE OR ALL READY CORRUPT.If you stand up and say stop you are labeled the bad guy or crazy . They dont want it fixed if they did someone long time ago would have fixed it.Originally posted by xdpatriot View PostYou're right. It's the same way here where I'm at. I know. It's corrupt everywhere. I've been told to not worry about it, you're wasting your time, crazy, paranoid, all of it. But if we are willing to throw in the towel so easily, what was worth working and fighting for to start with? I'm not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers here. I'm just trying to see what, if anything can be done to help the situation of our children. A guy told me, "Man, that stock market just won't crash for us will it." I told him, "seriously?" I don't want my kids going through that. Do I think it's coming? Yeah. Am I preparing? Hell yeah. Do I want civil unrest? Hell no. I will do everything in my power to make things right. From the voting booth to the commissioners court. I just believe there are things we can attempt to do now to make things better. I do know that people of like minds have to join together to help secure one another in hard times. I have all the preps my family and I need to survive off the grid for a LONG time. You know what though? We have to sleep sometime. We need good people in a group. Thanks for the replies Blackhawk, it's got my mind working.אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

That was me. I deleted it because I don't think anything is gained by discussing politics. I came here to share ideas on preparedness and how to affect my little piece of the world to make life better and potentially help others do the same to theirs. Not to try and sell one political party or another; or have one sold to me. There are plenty of other message boards dedicated to that type of thing. I do not like political rhetoric, the "us versus them" mentality or personal views stated as "we".Originally posted by xdpatriot View PostI've had some people just send me "no" as a response. Cool. This is not my house. I'm just a guest. So continue on, but count me out.

I'm glad I re-read my post. Looks like I said I don't admire Lincoln, progressives are attacking us and Congress can't agree on anything. I'm not trying to push anything on anyone. Just a "general discussion". I wrote this thing a while back just to vent some ideas on paper. Trying to get people to start thinking and get involved. I didn't endorse one party or the other. You're right, there are plenty of other sites out there I could go to. No one forced you, or ever will force you to read another one of my posts. Sorry to stump people's toes. Trying to help. I know to keep it to myself next time. I thought about it. You're right slim, this isn't the appropriate place. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. It won't happen again. We should be discussing prepping. Sorry to all.Last edited by xdpatriot; 04-24-2012, 04:05 PM.אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

It is GENERAL discussion and since politics do affect us all, I'd like to keep the thread open for discussion. Unless the OP wants it closed, then we'll close it.
Folks, we are not always going to agree 110% on everything. Hell, life would be REALLY BORING if we did ;) Just ask my wife :)
Just keep it civil guys, TIAwww.homesteadingandsurvival.com

Actually the title of this thread will probably be quite appropriate in a couple weeks... Thats when the whole Occupy movement starts their BS again... And I doubt that things will remain calm and orderly this year. There's already some of their leaders calling for violence in the streets.

XD, I did not take offense. I read your post not long after you posted, but was not sure what to say in response--I needed to think about it. Mostly I agree with what you said, but most of the time I am not sure what I can do about it. I was a delegate in the first round of our state caucuses (sp?) and that was very enlightening, but beyond that I am not sure what I can do. Even though I have a lot of political opinions, I do not want to run for office as it is just not my cup of tea. I have also become wary of signing petitions because I have seen/heard where opposing groups are now trying to get the names and addresses of the people who signed the petitions and bring them out into the open so to speak. I am not too keen on having some protesters show up at my door because I signed a petition to voice my opinion and because they don't like it they want to harrass me--no thanks!
What I can do and what I do do is pray for the people of this country and the world. I also pray for our politicians and world leaders. I pray that God will convict their hearts to do the right thing for the people and not whatever is best for them personally. I pray that God will open the eyes, hearts, minds and souls of the people to see that He is real.
I am glad you could voice your thoughts, it is important to speak our minds sometimes.
Just my $.02.

Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
