  • Okie Weather

Okies today was the "good day" they say tomorrow is gonna be rough. Keep your head in the game and if it's a bad one try and do a status check in later tomorrow evening. If you are hit and need anything holler.
For them that know me I will be at the range teaching till bout 5. Shoot a brother a text if he's bout to get wiped out like almost happened down there today!

Just saw the weather report on the web. good luck and stay safe. Just 'cause you have a well stocked shelter is no reason to use it.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

As Matt and I discussed earlier. Need to watch for flash flooding as well. It came a torrential downpour right quick today and flooded several roads here on base. Storm drains just couldn't keep up with the rain.

Watch the low lying areas and those next to waterways. Remember, it generally only takes 8 inches of water to start making vehicles float away. So don't try to muscle through water on roadways.

        Stay safe everyone.

So far most of it has been south but us northern Okies are about to feel the pain! Got some late storms moving in and bringing possible 70-80mph winds and hail....oh fun. LOL
Definitely staying home and keepin' our eyes on the skies tomorrow.

Keep your heads down, ears open and don't hesitate to get to shelter if the alarms sound. Last night/early morning the alarms went off all over Oklahoma County even though the possible tornado was up in the Piedmont, Edmond and Guthrie area. Better to be safe than sorry though and I'm glad the alarms went off ahead of time for the most part. Storm track moved it northeast pretty quickly, which was a bad thing. But most radio and TV stations out here are giving great coverage of the storm track as it moves through, even in the early AM. But either way, don't hesitate to get to shelter.

Looks to be a long night. Midwest and Central US folks check in when you get the chance.

Every time I've ever been to your state the weather has tried to kill me. Tornadoes, ice storms, snow storms, giant hail... Anymore if I'm heading east I either head south or slip through the Texahoma panhandle. I've seen weather go from good to bad quickly in the high Rockies and Sierra Madres, but in the mountains there are places to hide and it's not raining 5th wheels. :)

Unbeknownst to us (and I was up when it happened) we almost got wiped out by a bouncing tornando between midnight and 1am. It took out a residence 500yds from us. I just got back home and saw it, guess it was too dark when i left this morning.
Thank You Lord for protecting my family.

I have a story like that!
Once upon a time, I lived in Kissimmee, and found myself driving friends home after work and a quick trip to Wal Mart. I could tell it was bad because I turned off my headlights and drove from the light cast by lightening flashes.
It was amazing. As I turned off the main drag onto the feeder for the two friends I had with me, all the lights went out, and the rain and wind got FIERCE! I dropped them off, and tried to go back out the same way, and couldn't! A tornado had destroyed the strip mall and intersection all around where I had just driven!
The outbreak got its own entry in wikipedia:

Wow Matt! Close call! We're doing some prepping and watching Mike Morgan on channel 4 keep us informed. Rick Mitchell on channel 5 is always good too. It's getting busy in the skies. Tornados are popping up in the northwest part of the state. We're waiting our turn. That will likely be around 7pm. and throught the night.

Seldom, why do you think they call those 5th wheels, "mobile homes?" LOL

qprat that's a pickle I wouldn't want to be in! I hate being in the dark in weather like that when you can't see the tornado.

All joking aside, I could picture Matt riding a tornado like Pecos Bill! With paracord reigns in one hand and an AR in the other. WOOOOHOOOO

You guys stay safe and hopefully the bad stuff stays in the skies and doesnt touch the ground.

Looks like the major front stalled and moved north prior to hitting the majority of Oklahoma. The next one coming in is moving towards OKC in the morning.

We (OKC Metro area) were lucky to miss the problems last night since it moved mainly northwest of us and hit the panhandle and NW parts of the State. But still keeping an eye out for this morning since the next front is supposed to move in after 6 or so.

Prayers out to those who were hit last night.

I woke up to the feeling/sound of something shaking the wall nearest my bed where there is a window. I then heard what sounded like birds pecking on a tin roof...the storm hit and it was hail hitting the window.
I went to the door and it's coming down in sheets. A couple of sayings my Grandpa used to use instantly came to mind, "gonna come a gully washer" or "this storm is a real toad floater"
