Forgive me if someone has already started a thread like this, but if you find a good deal that others might be able to find in their region, share it with the board.

I just found Hormel Black Label canned hams at Super Kmart. They expire in April, 2013 and were 3# for 9.99. The downside is that they need to be refrigerated. Since I have a fridge in the basement, that's not a problem for me until the power goes out. But I figured that they could be included in my short term rotation. I haven't tasted them yet.

to get a few more yrs out of the hams and not worry about refridgeration, you could always can split pea soup and ham, we put up about 60 qts every yr, it seems to be a favorite around here. we just dice the trimed ham in 1/2 inch sqs and toss it in.

I haven't found any good deals of food but did buy some farm machinery for about half what it was worth and doubled my money in six weeks by reselling it on craigslist. I'll use the paper to buy silver and put it in the prep safe.
