One person has PM'ed me asking about the recent posts on SurvivalBlog Jim Rawles made regarding FBI snooping on his site.

Is it realistic to think that gubmint agencies are snooping around on the internet, ahhh yeah I think it's more than realistic.

Are federales hanging around everywhere waiting to swoop down on any freedom loving person? Ahhh NO definitely not.

Guys, we have to be realistic on this. While we should definitely NOT stick our heads in the sand, you have to realize that a LOT of this is simple psy-ops.

In 1994 or 1995 I wrote an article covering how so many people had a reason not to do ANYTHING. It came out of a conversation I had at a gunshow with a fellow who (I think) was legitimately concerned about where the nation was going and (I think) was legitimately ready to prepare, etc. However, and to be painfully blunt, this guy had no balls. I don't mean soccer balls or ping pong balls either. But he had EVERY reason (made up in his mind I mean) not to do anything- "if I buy food, then I'll be a hoarder", "If I buy a gun I'll be on a list", "if I network then they'll consider me in a militia." He's probably long since went back to normal life cause the REALITY of life made him pee his pants.

Let's face it- if you are scared to: buy a gun, put back even a little bit of food, buy any gear, come to a public gathering of like minded people, go and learn new skills and now we can add to the list even go to an internet site FORGETABOUTIT!

    YOUR ALREADY LIVING UNDER COMMUNISM!

    What? What do you mean?

If your so flipping scared to do things that help yourself be more prepared, more free, etc. guess what my friend- your ALREADY ENSLAVED! Your enslaved IN YOUR MIND.

"No but see I'm gonna be the lone sniper who's going to go out and take heads at night and go and be a loyal citizen during the day and..."

    BULLSHIIT YOU ARE

Your gonna cower down. Your gonna hide in the closet. No matter how many Walter Mitty fantasies of being a one man guerrilla army you play in your mind, the reality is that most likely, you will do nothing.

If your not making SMALL STEPS OF FAITH AND ACTION NOW, I can pretty much guarantee you that you will NOT do it later when it will be BIG steps and LARGE actions.

"I've seen it before pal" from the famous movie quote.

We ALL need to exercise our COURAGE.

On the mats, on the running path, in the gym, on the gun range, with a pistol stuck in our face, with a pistol stuck in someone else's face, with an opponent's arm wrapped around our neck, with a fist connecting with our chin, whatever. For some of us, that might mean something as simple as still going to SurvivalBlog and not being run off cause once upon a time some snooping feds went on there... Big damn deal....

I'll say the same thing I told my son years ago when we started teaching him how to fight, how to interact with bullies and punks, etc.

"Remember, you don't always have to win, they just have to know that you ARE going to fight and it's gonna cost them."

PSA over, not the clarification- I'm NOT advocating any breach of OPSEC, PERSEC, COMSEC, etc. But when you cower, your already living under communism.

I realize some of this is in a "harsh tone" but often times people have to be shook out of complacency.

    Hell yeah man!

As I always have said, they know who I am , what I got and where I live. If "they" want it, come and get it. I will be waiting willingly. I am more worried about the Boogeyman than some DEVGRU team kicking in my door for 100 round of .308, 6 boxes of cookies and one of those HUGE lighters from Dollar General

I read that same article the other night and thought about re-posting it here. But I didnt want to bring out the Aluminuminums.

The same as the article that the NSA is ramping up its I-Net survalence, ummm, they have been doing that for years. And with idiots like the Dumbsday Preppers blowing OPSEC, if the ABC's know or not, ummm, every single person that knows these fools know everything now.

If you live in fear, you have already lost. Someone on this forum said that, and I like it.

    Good post LD3, good post.

I have been around far too long in this "restoration of the Republic" and "survivalist" battlefront to go incognito now... I let google, facebook and whatever log whatever they want... I buy what I want, where I want, and use cash or debit VISA to do so... Finding me is not hard, especially for alphabet agencies...

However, I am not stupid or naive... I do have skills in encryption, data security, and encrypted communications if the need arises... I protect Amendment 4 in my life and private comms... That's a good start...

Rawles info on VPN services is very useful though, and one would do well saving that info and learning how it operates... (simple, really, but highly effective).

        YES!
We're all already on the list folks.
That's one reason why I don't get to worried about my HAM radio license. You can make "The Data" incomprehensible, but there's a lot to learn just by knowing there's a something being sent.

there is a gun forum. LD you know where i hang. A few years back...ohh 03-04 i'd say. The feds came in and requested all the info for EVERY memeber on the forum. There is just under THREE hundred thousand memebers on that forum. The feds got their info.

People, we cant hide from everything. Screaming tin foil or running from someplace/thing isnt the answer.
It would be stupid over look that other large prep related forums/blogs are not being screened as well.

Me...hell im a youtube superstar :P but with the amount of firearms, gear and places ive been , i have no doubt my name is on some list.
Do i let it scare me in to not preparing for things .NO. Sorry but being laid up from work, sick or job lose, or car wreck or hurricane happen on a daily basis verse NWO strom troopers, red dawn or zombies. Never had one of those events happen yet...have we.

no everyone else who's afraid..go put your foil hat on and start a dozen threads on a doz web forums about " how can i bury my firearms"..... it makes us real survivalist laugh....

Well said. This is on reason I like this forum no BS. I think the feds really have bigger problems than who may be a survivalist.

I have many conversations with family members and "friends" and the bottom line I try to impress is" Any prep supplies is better than nothing,Any firearm training is beter than nothing,Any special skill is better than nothing." When you walk up to that imaginary gate (not the pearly one) and the guard sitting at the Interview table ask ,So what can you do? what are your skills that you can offer us? What will the answer be!!! BTW great post LD

The majority of folks on these "lists" are of no issue and pose no "threat". IMO they know that BUT like it or not there are nuts jobs, some have even been thwarted on here for radicalism, that lean towards these types of things. For those who are not new to "survivalism" this is not a new issue either because we have gone thru it before back during the Clinton years and some older ones (no disrespect) remember the red scare McCarthy days where some got "labels" too if they were "too prepared".
For some of us we have been or are on the other side of the fence too where you know there are those who hide behind the veil of prepardness in order to do no good to innocent people. To often the people are government workers, military etc who have doen nothing more than show up to work but are considered the "enemy" by the mcveighs of the world who consider children in a daycare as "acceptable casualties" of their personal war. We know thats not what this is about, at least the majority on here anyway, and do not represnt that at all. So yes places like this are being looked at along with dozen of other types of places. So, kinda like seeing the cop oin the way home. I laugh at folks slamming on the brakes when I dont because I WASNT DOING ANYTHING TO BEGIN WITH, its the same on these sites, read, take in and prepare dont make war and you have nothing to worry about.
The "list" is not that big a deal IF you are just preparing for survival and not other things. OPSEC for personal safety from the run of the mill bad guys who would make off with your hard earned gear or post PAW zombies but don't lose sight of what you are truely about with misplaced thoughts.

I am sure there are folks monitoring this site just like every other Prepping site on the web. I don't see folks on this site doing anything illegal so let them monitor us. I have known the folks who started this site for many years and respect them a great deal. I see people here who want to get their families ready for a possible future that may not be so bright. Any time you sign on to any blog you give up your right to privacy. A good spook can see quickly who you are and where you are. I don't mind them looking in on us. As Matt said, there are not cases out there and I don't see them here. Good prepping to you all. GB

We are living in the United States of America and are actually having to discuss the actions of OUR GOVERNMENT in an effort to gather information and therefore control it's citizens! They claim it's for our own security, and there is some truth in that, however, the same feds monitoring for terrorist today, becomes the dictators of tomorrow. At some point, you have to decide what you STAND for and act according.

Excellent post Lowndown. Nothing I do is either immoral or illegal. If the feds want to waste their time monitoring me - have at it.

Follow up- something to think about.

How does the concept of "terror" really work?

Is it always a physical threat? Is it always a real, credible in your face threat? Not always.

Think back to when you were a kid. Talk to a dozen adults and at least 11 of them that weren't sheltered had experiences with bullies as kids. How many times did the bully actually beat them up? Probably not many. Yet the fear, the "terror" if you will, of the bullies actions, or-follow me now- the THOUGHT of what the bully might actually do to you kept you in fear.

Note here that I said "what the bully "might" actually do. Not necessarily even what the bully had done in the past, etc.

Our brain doesn't have to connect a threat to pain we have actually experienced, it can dream up the concept on it's own.

I knew a guy once, talked out of his arse a lot. Said stupid things that were hurtful to a lot of people. I honestly think the guy lacked social skills and didn't even realize he was pi$$ing a lot of people off. I say that part cause it's hard to believe he had NOT been in a fight after saying such stupid crap for so long. Anywhoo, I noticed early on he had a MAJOR apprehension about doing any physical training, any HTH training, some knife work was about the closest he got to it. Actually this sort of apprehension isn't overly uncommon when you train around a bunch of people. He actually went to a close quarters type class with me one time. Besides not being willing to actually shoot AT me-or other opponents- with the simmunitions (he would purposely shoot over the shoulder, you pick these things up training people), he got real apprehensive when the class turned to a small section on HTH. He was visibly agitated over this section of training. As we got to a section dealing with going to the ground and having just recently had another friend knock his noggin good by not tucking his chin when he fell, I asked him "do you know how to fall." He thought I said "do you know how to fight?" He started talking quickly and said he had never ever been in a physical fight. "Not even in school?" ask I. He replied that he never suffered so much as a hard shove. Not sure how you could get through elementary school without getting into a fight.

His mind had NOTHING REAL to relate to the situation, however it scared him nevertheless.

Such as the case with most of us and this "internet terror." Most of us have not at all experienced this sort of thing. Yet our mind "fills in the blank" as to all the dastardly deeds that could come our way if we so much as dare oppose "the empire" and visit a blog site.

A line from Julius Ceasar comes into mind- "ambition should be made of sterner stuff." Only substitute courage for ambition.

How this sort of thing spreads-

So picture yourself as a good little Soviet citizen. Your standing in a line to get your ration of fish and day old bread. You "hear" that two villages over, Mr. Commieyetski was taken last night by the KGB. Evidently he was not a loyal communist. You don't know comrade Commieyetski nor had previously heard of him. Yet the woman in line tells of you of the terror from the midnight grab of him. As you move about the village you hear the story from others. You go home, burn the copy of "Life" magazine you had hidden behind the fireplace and make sure the radio is no longer set on the frequency you were previously listening to the BBC on. Your work is on time and exemplary the next week or so. After about a week when this is becoming passe you see the local newspaper run an article about how Commieyetski was western imperialist spy.

Was he? Did he even exist? Does it even matter? No. The point of it was not Commieyetski but control. Commieyetski may not have even existed, the KGB might never have grabbed him, but the TERROR existed in everyone's mind for a long time and because of that, behavior was controlled.

Law 4- "terror will defeat reason."

Certain folks that would seek greater control UNDERSTAND THIS.

Don't fall for this guys. We have to understand this for what it is.

                              Yeah, they were weird.
I love the one that's in arabic, and shows the Iraqi soldier holding hands with the Saudi soldier, and them walking off into the sunset.
I laughed at it until a few years later when I found myself in Jordan holding hands with a guy I just met, and giving him a kiss on the cheek every day.
