I was talking to a friend of mine in the grocery business and he mentioned the fact that the thermal grocery bags (Hot/Cold bags for things like Ice cream) would shield the anti theft tags on merchandise being taken from the store. I was wondering if they would be useful in protecting electronic equipment like the EMP bags used to store computer components? GB

Interesting idea...i was recently reading in a book from Joel Skousen about testing if something is "EMP Proof" by putting a radio in the container and turning it on and if it picks up a signal it wouldn't be protected.
I'll will double check the book to make sure that is what he said. Not sure if a radio signal is equivalent to an EMP, since we are talking about waves vs particles."It's a trap!!!!" -- Admiral Ackbar

from the book "The Secure Home" on page 333-334 Skousen says the way to test is to get a battery powered radio turn it on and crank the volume stick it in metal ammo can...if it loses all signal and puts out static it is G2G...try that as a starting point...if you can video the test for all of us to see."It's a trap!!!!" -- Admiral Ackbar

So, would that mean that an old washing machine or dishwasher could be used? (would certainly hold more) Probably not dishwasher since it's not totally surrounded by metal? How about a metal shed (outdoor metal barn) ?"Well, you know what they say: 'Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment. '"
