I agree it's a dollar bill problem. It's called inflation, but the point of the question is just to try and get a feel for people's thoughts. So we can look for the signs things may take a turn.

OK, how about when the federal executive branch breaches centuries of anglo-saxon common law and U.S. financial law, and, like a banana republic, by fiat abbrogates the legal rights of bond holders in favor of a class of politcal cronies, say the UAW, and....

I think the current gas price increase will kill the quote "economic recovery" unquote that the gubmint and 4th estate is telling us that is happening right now.

and there's a reason why "O" wants to tap into the oil reserves 6-8 months prior to that summer time crunch before elections.......

I will figure that the breaking point of the U S has been reached when interstate commerce ceases.

What ever the cause may be, this will shut everything else down.

Rioting will occur when the breaking point is reached. Civil unrest is the beginning of the end. Seems like we've seen a bit of that recently over something as silly as sneakers. If segments of society will riot over something so absurd, what will happen when the welfare check doesn't cover what they consider the necessities. Imagine what will happen when working people have to choose between buying gas and buying food. It's not just the U.S. economy, it's the world economy that being propped up by lies and false reports.

Another very serious event is an outbreak of disease. Not sure what, but I have read that the CDC has been dummying down reports of a serious outbreak of bird flu in asia. After the H1N1 outbreak, where they were accused of panic mongering, they're not issuing warning or statements as before. If a disease that kills (think of King's "The Stand") breakouts in the U.S., HIDE. I believe that just like in the novel, the CDC will continue to issue calming messages to keep down panic, but when people die in the streets, the game's over.

The entire purpose of prepping is to be ready when the 'end game' begins. Are we seeing it happen before out eyes and not recognizing it. Will it be with a bang, or a whimper? Interesting food for thought.
