Just got back from watching it. AWESOME! Went w/ my Dad and my 10 y/o son Josh. He is pumped. I don't have much to criticize, hollywood didn't screw it up too bad. Other than that they changed mags and the whole ball of wax just like they should. SEALs are the elite. I'm not just saying that because I'm a Navy guy. I watched BUDs while stationed on Coronado and it's hard.

Just got back in, my Daughter went cause my squid buddy bailed on me, and I enjoyed it. Hats off to all that do, did, and may in the future no matter your role. It takes several hundred just to support the one in these high maintanance ops. There was a little hype, to be expected, but not to bad.Knowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

I saw it too... I really like how they tied in the Mexico/USA border as being a huge draw to possible terrorists, as well as the huge problem we have with Mexico and the cartels just across our borders... The first mission in the swamps was awesome!!!! Not too bad acting for a bunch of SEAL guys (not professional actors). Also shows off some of our superior technology! If I was a jihadist, that movie would make me think twice, thrice and then some...-=> Rmplstlskn <=-

Hey Gunfreak, I was at ACU-1 at NAB Coronado from '89-91. I was always amazed at what those guys put themselves through day in and day out.

Great movie, can't wait to see it again. I usually don't see movies in theaters but wanted to see this one on the big screen. I was happy I did. These were real SEAL's and the acting was all SEAL's. They weren't the best actors, but that to me made it more real. This is a featurette of the movie and is good to watch. It won't give anything away. They used live ammo, and the SEAL's made an impact on the director.

Just watched this AWESOME movie!!!!
These guys make me proud and amaze me at the same time.
Question for you MIL guys out there?
Are we this bad***?
Was everything true to form as I hear?
Why dont they use a heavier round? Seems like alotta M4's. Doesnt someone on a squad bring the hammer? Is it because .223 is lighter than the .308? Isnt the 6.8 what the boys are using nowadays?
I know the tech in this movie isnt the updated stuff right?I know we got some Marty McFly stuff being used as we speak.
This movie was so awesome. I am going to lose sleep tonight because I stayed up. Now I am pumped and want to go patrol my woods, lol. I love when movies like this get me hyped up. Too bad everyone is asleep. I had to contain myself a couple of times. Watching on the laptop with the headphones. Did the "rowdy mime fist pump" quite often.
I wont give too much away, but from start to finish. Great storyline, great action.
2 Thumbs UP!You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Shoot yeah!Originally posted by WiseOwl View PostAre we this bad***?
Standard issue. And don't discount the lethality of the 5.56 by the "reports" in the media and whatnot about it not being effective. It works just fine, especially up close. Just ask Bin Laden. :DOriginally posted by WiseOwl View PostWhy dont they use a heavier round? Seems like alotta M4's.
Different thread, different time though.
Mission dictates. Sometimes it's the battle axe, other times it's the scalpel.Originally posted by WiseOwl View PostDoesnt someone on a squad bring the hammer? Is it because .223 is lighter than the .308?
Officially, no. There have been reports of some units using it, but nothing official and it hasn't been adopted for wide scale use.Originally posted by WiseOwl View PostIsnt the 6.8 what the boys are using nowadays?
The fan boys would love for you to think everyone in SOF is using it. But again, different time, different thread.
From what I hear, it actually is fairly true to life. Of course with Hollywierd, so there is a little more liberal use of some of the technologies. But from my understanding, it's all out there.Originally posted by WiseOwl View PostI know the tech in this movie isnt the updated stuff right?I know we got some Marty McFly stuff being used as we speak.Last edited by Grand58742; 04-16-2012, 10:13 AM.Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

Are we this bad***? YES, I aint no SEAL/SF/Ranger/any other tab but we took care of our business just the same anyways just as anyone who serves does
Was everything true to form as I hear? Pretty much, I've worked with all but 2 pieces of equip they had there was a little hype like sliding on your knees uncontrolled towards the enemy but hey it's a movie about supermen right
Why dont they use a heavier round?Issue ammo Seems like alotta M4's. there are other weapondry used however mission dictates in supplies and repairsDoesnt someone on a squad bring the hammer? depends, mission dictates Is it because .223 is lighter than the .308? mission dictates Isnt the 6.8 what the boys are using nowadays? some SF but resupply and mission dictates, sometimes you dont want to leave a "signature" with one casing or another cause as you know we arent always officially there :)
I know the tech in this movie isnt the updated stuff right? there was a mixture but this is a 10+ yr story line too and alot of things have changed since the start of this last go roundI know we got some Marty McFly stuff being used as we speak.
