I think they really DON'T KNOW the egotistical, self-centric, not-my-fault prick they really are... Seriously. They know they are doing things that harm people, but it is "just business." They were forced to do these things by others and the actions of others. They are really nice people... Christians even... Just ask them.

These are the most dangerous kind, as they are your "prepping buddy" one day and taking your stuff at gunpoint the next to "feed and provide for their family."

HONOR. Something that seems to be lost in this day and age. Sorry about the trouble but cool that you are an honorable person. Shoulda been a Samurai!!

I think this is why if there is an economic collapse, things are going to be really violent. "I deserve this", "even though it's not right I'm gonna do it cause I can." "Feed me! Help me!"
I don't know how many people I've heard say,"that's why I have guns, so I can take other peoples stuff." I was amazed. Common decency is gone.

Buckle up folks, it may be a bumpy ride.

I agree he played the systems . I took a paycut of over 125k in less then a year . I lost my family health insurance and had to pay for my son's birth out of my pocket ( which was over 50k ) which wiped my savings . I gave 2 cars back to the bank , they werent willing to take payments once I gave them back to make up the difference , they wanted all or nothing , well they got nothing . I was 75k in debt , but I wasnt trying to screw anyone . I filed under advice from my business lawyer . I couldnt anticipate going from 175k a year to 50k a yr in less then 4 months . I was not living beyond my means , I had been making that kind of cash for over 10 yrs . I couldnt hit my 401k as it was taking a beating , I wouldnt touch my IRA's. I had a small house , 2 cars and a boat that I was paying for with no problems . I did not play the system , I have paid over 50k a year into the system in taxes for over 15 yrs now and when I needed a little help , all I heard was you dont qualify you make too much . I used to finance my vehicles for the shortest amount of time ( usually 3 yrs ) so my payments were high , but I dont like owing people money . Now I am back to doing well again , I dont finance anything . Well thats a lie , I financed my truck , but only after making sure I could write a check to pay it off . If I cant pay cash for something , I wont buy it .

So saying anyone who files bankruptcy is playing games, saying they are self centered is false and misleading . A LOT of good people have had great paying jobs for years and never been late on anything in their life , then this crap hits and everyone feels it . When you set up a budget based on your income over the last few years and then your income takes a dump . You struggle for months , you sell all your toys , you stop going out , I basically became a hermit and did nothing but work and try to straighten my life out . I never went beyond the means of what I was budgeted to do and I still took a major dump in life . I tried everything possible before I filed and it was going nowhere . I canceled my cable , my health insurance , drove a beater truck , did nothing for 2 years to re-establish myself . I will not let myself get into that again . I made the mistake of letting myself get blind sided , it will not happen again !!!

I know this was a rant against the self centered-hole , who seems like a total moron , but you cant lump all the people who have been strapped lately , some were suckered into houses they couldnt afford , some ( like myself ) have taken major paycuts or dont even have jobs they worked at for years . Those who play the system , whether its the run your bills up and dont pay or those who expect something for nothing piss me off . I got hammered and I learned , I never tried to play the system ( or I would have let the state pay for my sons birth ) . I tried for months to keep myself afloat and when my savings ran out , I had no other recourse . I am sure we all know hard working people who have had to face choices they didnt want to make and are living day to day . I cant lump them all into the same catagory as this guy .

Great reply! You're right. People hit hard times. I hope I didn't come across as lumping everyone together. It sounds like you dug yourself out with your own two hands. Good for you!

I think you missed the part of the main message, and by no means is anybody bashin you as an individual. But you stated "paying for with no problem" which equals you had them on credit, which in and of itself is not bad, but when you lose your income (as you stated you did) you couldn't afford the payments. People in general do not have enough in saving to cover accidents let alone loss of a job, so why do people in general go so far in debt that if they do lose their current job they go for bankruptcy and let the banks/credit unions take the depreciation loss and then think hey thats ok???

You say you are now back on your feet, have you recontacted the companies that had to pay the bill when you gave up? Have you reimbursed them for their losses for your decisions? I am betting no. Again, not a bash, but the main objective of this post, from what I got from it anyways, was simply that, people seem to think it is OK to file bankruptcy and let others take the financial loss/burden.

Now I am glad to hear you are back on your feet. You also stated that it will never happen again, but you also said you financed your truck, but not after you made sure you had enough to pay for it??? Umm you obviously have kids, what if an unexpected financially high "gotcha" jumps out? As you stated happen the first time with the childbirth cost, you then use your "I got enough to cover it" savings, and BAM country takes another financial hit... You are back where you were before, no income and a debt you cannot afford...

Again, not to bash you, but you are doing the same thing again that got you into the first bankruptcy case...

I had a really long winded reply , didn't post it hehe . This guy was and is a ****** . If you have been fortunate enough to never to finance anything or let your life get into a normal routine where you budget your life based on your past few years , then your awesome . I dont know anyone who doesnt budget themselves . A budget is when you look at your income and make your living choices based on what your income has been for the last "blah" years . I am sure that you know ok my electric bill is this , my home payment is this , my retirement payment is this . So you pay all your bills , you put something away every month for when you want to retire . This is called having a life and living . Other then the IRS , one truck payment , insurance on everything . I have only utilities to pay now . And I tried to pay them back , but as I posted they wanted it all now or nothing .

So let me get this straight, because I buy a vehicle I can afford and dont buy something over my pay grade, im a ****** as you stated, was and is is the term you used.

Well sorry you feel like you have to call me names because I pointed out your budget flaw, and in the same rude response post you now say you only have utilities to pay now, wow, glad to see you paid off that truck since your previous post.

Glad to hear you are back on your feet and debt free.
