Well don't know about you but this could be considered a good thing...I am sure there are some pessimistic people that will argue with me.

Jobs=People. People=Problems
however alot of folks are hurting bad and need a good job so and good hard working people are less problems than folks without so it can go eiither way. I hope it does help some out becasuse it pains me to see so many suffering that just want to do the right thing and be productive and live a decent life. It's hard for me to even says that and realize that i'm talking about America because not to many years ago we didnt think like that, took it for grantedKnowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

I am not sure what there would be to argue about. these are not service industry jobs but rather manufacturing. We have to bring back manufacturing to this country if we are to survive as a people. I sell products made in the USA overseas. Give Americans a chance and we can and will produce the best products on this planet. GB

CAT is ramping up. A buddy of mine is in the surveying business and does a lot of gov't stuff. He said they had a conference in TX and CAT was brought up as a company that was about to super expand. This was 2 years ago.
I work near the CAT plant on the southside and they hired a ton of folks.
Some of these jobs are for the common man but a lot of them require some real skills, not temp agency truck unloaders. This will be good for that area.
Also, my buddy told me 2 years ago to get some stock in CAT for an "undisclosed" reason. He wouldnt tell me why but he bought some. Wonder what he heard in that meeting?You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

OK, I'll be the glass-half-emty guy. I know a lot of Cat service folks. They work for a large Cat distributor. They ALL got laid-off. No construction, no use of machines, no service work to do. Used machines are selling so low at auction that the owners are selling bulldozers BY THE POUND. The scrap metal is worth more than a working machine. I suppose Cat will be shipping their new machines off to countries not affected by our recession, wherever that is.

I forgot to mention my buddy said the work was going to China and Brazil. I wonder if he was blowing smoke or being real, vague but real.
I was down at a facility a couple of weeks ago and they are pumping these big turbines out, big blue turbines that separate the sand from the oil. If I am not mistaken, CAT is a part of that too.
I know they laid off a ton of folks down at the Griffin plant but then had a big rehire, but more of the "folks with degrees" over the mechanic type folks.You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?
