  • What are you getting this month?

I picked up 40 lbs of Pinto beans ($0.75/lb.) and 20 lbs. of Lentils ($0.98/lb.) from china mart.

I noticed I was uneven on legumes vs grains, still out of balance by 132 lbs. so I will need to work on that.

      More grains and legumes.
2 more water filters like the one Matt posted about making.
      Tarps.
      Buckets and lids.
      Taking a gardening class.
DH is making BOBs for all three of us. - this is a new and exciting development. He seems to be getting more and more involved. I've always felt like he kinda went along to humor me.... not as much any more!
Ordering onion plants and buying all heirloom seeds.
I need to make a Sam's run to stock up on paper towels, TP, honey, more rice, beans, canned chicken
I am going to have some extra money to spend this month, but I want to make sure we use it wisely, so I am making a list, and checking it compulsively.
      Rope and bungees.

Its funny you say that elittle, everytime I get buckets from Target they ask what for? I tell em, to put my kids toys in because they stack and for bathroom trashcans :)

I have a K to buy rifles, stuff that go inside of rifles, food, more 1st Aid, and a backpacking sleeping bag.

I think by the end of this month on my 30th bday, I will have a good stock and then a physical at the doctor to see if I have any lose wires.

I think this will be a good month for the Owls.

I am excited to say that I am picking up a dillon 650xl. My group decided that it would be very advantageous to have one. A good friend of mine from church, I just found out, has a dillon 550, and is almost as excited about setting my new reloader as I am. The other good news is that the reloader will be housed at my house because my basement is quite large. Heck my wife already calls the basement my bunker. While my emphasis for TEOTWAWKI has always been food, food, and more food, this is a nice way to change things up, and after the SHTF, it will be worth its weight in gold.

Good for you G.N.! We did that last year. It's amazing the relief for your psyche knowing there is somewhere to run too.

I am getting the AR ready for the two classes i am taking with it this year. I will be making a trip to Cash and Carry to pickup some spices I am running low on, as well as some legumes. Cheaper Than Dirt has some gas cans I was thinking of getting.

GunNut, congrats on the new property, that is great news! I am hoping we will do that sometime this year as well, but we shall see.

I had a similar experience. A lady at china mart wanted to know why I was buying so much oatmeal. I told her it was for the poor kids at the mission. She went all gooey and thanked me profusely. The funny thing is: there are no missions in the northeast!
