  • SOPA

This document provides an update to the Privacy Impact Assessment for the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Operations Coordination and Planning's initiative to monitor publicly available social media and provide situational awareness. The initiative now allows for limited collection and sharing of personally identifiable information in emergency situations. It establishes seven categories of individuals whose PII may be collected, including those in life-threatening situations or government and media officials providing public updates. The National Operations Center will use publicly available search tools and share de-identified information with authorized partners to fulfill its legal mandate to provide situational awareness.

This is unreal. Scroll down to the bottom and read the terms and websites they will be monitoring..............if this passes....we are here:(
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Never has it been easier for ANY government to control it's citizens. We've surpassed 1984.

American wealth, to the tune of over a Trillion Dollars has disappeared due to industrial espionage, intellectual property theft, counterfeit goods and fraud. We are bleeding to death, and this is causing a good part of our national financial decline.
That said, SOPA is an example of legislation written by lobbyists, and pushed by 'bought' Congressmen and Senators. It is rife with 'unintended consequences', stupidity and one sided, draconian measures.
Something HAS to be done to protect American intellectual property, but SOPA is not the answer.
