    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...512989404.html

I know most of you read the Survivalblog.com daily. This article that appeared today is eye opening. I have already followed the interactive guide to getting rid of the so called flash and 3 party cookies.

It's frightening, to say the least.

Makes one want to become a Luddite and drop the internet all together... if it weren't so darn useful for so many things...

I knew cookies were common, but I did not know it was so embedded and net wide...

I would bet the software that runs this forum placed some of these "beacons" on our systems...

I use IXQuick as my browser, and it doesn't keep any private information. Also, when you do a search in it, the results give you the option of using their "proxy" server. What that means is that if you choose that option, (it's listed along with the search results) when you go to the website you selected, you go there as IXQuick, not as who you are. In other words, the web page records a hit from IXQuick, not you. When I'm going to a page that I think might be on somebody's list, I use that. IXQuick is also using the name StartPage now too, so you might look for them.

The only option we were given in setting up and formatting the site in regards to the above discussion related to minors.

Their was one option in the setup menu that said basically if someone under a certain age (13 IIRC) tried to register and was rejected, the option was to place a cookie on their browser so that they could not try to re-register putting another name in, etc.

I clicked NO because their was no "H-ll no!" option ;)

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"
